Default HELP - tC IPOD Hookup

Alright I can already feel the fire of "this has been covered," and "do a search!" The problem is the search function on this forum SUCKS. I'm really thinking of getting an IPOD but I’m not going to drop $400 on it if I can’t hook it up to the tC. I've seen the FM transmitters and I’ve also heard that they sound like if you don’t find the perfect frequency to operate on or if you live in the city (I live in downtown Chicago). Plus it would just add more clutter to the cabin, and cost about $50-80 for a substandard sound quality. So my long winded question is does anyone know how to hard wire an IPOD with relative ease to the stock [6 disk] head unit. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not electronically inclined at all so if this process is complicated then I’m screwed because I’m not going to try to be an amateur electrician with the car. Having that said, does anyone know who can do this while preserving the stock head unit (Eg. Best Buy, circuit city?) If anyone has an FM transmitter or has completed a successful IPOD hardwire to the stock tC head unit please impart your wisdom unto me. I’m not all that concerned with cost if I know it will produce a high quality sound. Thanks everyone!

I have an iTrip on my 4G 20gig iPod and I live in Evanston (not so far from you). I use 91.1 as my frequency and I get great sound throughout most of the Chicago area. Just make sure that you get an iTrip and not a copy-cat because the iTrip lets you use ANY FM frequency. Most others only let you use one of 8. I will admit that the sound isn't perfect, but unless you're an audiophile, it's more than good enough.
