I know a guy who is doing this, and he has the Scanguage to track "most" of his records. He runs it in his xB and he says it does not save much around the city, but it does on the Highway. he claims 38 MPG and a smoother running engine.
He has been using it for over a year, and has upgraded to a bigger unit to produce more hydrogen. It really does not take that much energy to run it. I guarantee it takes less power to run than a sound system.

I would lean towards that conclusion as well. Unless he has pics and proof of what he has done.

Once I read that, I completely dismissed your arguments.

Why? Because anyone with a free-thinking brain cell left in their head can see the complete biased nature in that movie... and thats what it was. It was far from a documentary. Yes, it was based on a faulty "Hockey Stick" graph...

Oh, and HHO doesn't work. Thermodynamics. Good luck to you on getting around those laws though.

Here are the pics I promised, weather you think it works or not, this is one in an xB RS2. The big white cylinder is the water with plates, the other white thing is the Bubbler. It T's into the throttle body,
and the two little wires on top of the big cylinder power it. Very easy design, he said it took 25 bucks to make it, and as I said he uses the Scan Gauge to track his records to whether it works or not.

I can't believe people actually believe that thing works.

Society fail.

Ever think this might be a placebo effect? Guy installs HHO generator and monitoring device. Knowing that he's trying to get better mileage, he inadvertantly drives more efficiently (less throttle), and thus boosts his MPG. There are people on this site who get 38 MPG or better with completely stock xB's, so I'd chock this up to even though the numbers may be real, it's still all in his head. I bet if he drove the same way with it not hooked up he'd get similar numbers.

This is almost as bad as the people saying they feel a performance gain when they put in $30 iridium plugs instead of $2 copper ones.

I can agree with you, the scanguage only tells what you are getting at the moment, and he is an older guy. I told him he should put it on a dyno, for an end all discussion. All the points are viable, pro and con.

Exactly vettter (Except iridiums do last MUCH longer, so there is merit to using those ).

Unless he has proven data to go along with his install pics then it is all just speculation, and as always the power in = power out argument stands true. Mythbusters has tested this with zero usable results. Their methodology is sometimes in question to some degree, but it is more thorough for sure than using a scangauge to track something like this with no control, no like conditions, no proper methodology, etc. Fuel mileage is a highly variable item and even averaging over a few tanks is sketchy at best for results.

So given that no one has shown any proof of real data so far under controlled circumstances and that the laws of physics make it very hard for this to be a viable solution... it is still on the myth-mod list for most of us
