tie a huge bungee cord around ur car, then tie the other end to a ferrari enzo. Get someone to drive the Enzo. Put your car in neutral and just make the person in the enzo gun it. Always Works..

Oh yea! NOS stickers Get Lots and Lots of NOS stickers, each adds 70hp to be exact

Hmm lets go through the Ps
Port
Polish
Pistons

Rods, wrist pins, intake, exhaust, cams, gaskets, compression, ignition, fuel, do I have enough?

Nitrous Oxide. Use it properly, it's super-cheap horsepower. Use it improperly, you need a new engine.

50 shot nitrous.... engine handles it rather well
75 shot - engine goes kaboom before you are done with the first bottle

sr20det motor swap...

or use the new crower cam shafts that are made for the rx8, they drop right in...

Turbonetics should be coming out with a 50 state legal "SuperCharger" that's not force induction...

Mugen carbon fiber intake manifold is good for 4 horses.

You can rewire those fake "blowoff valve" horn kits directly into your CAI tract, when you hit your horn, it creates enough pressure so your vaccuum in negated and you have 0 lbs of boost instead of -3lbs. it's good for 1.5 horses but what do you expect from a $60 Kragen kit?

Use smaller wheels. The 10-inch Dayton 100Spoke have less rotating mass thereby allowing you to utilize more horse power to propel. Disconnect your AC and other misc. stuff from the belts, as it robs you of your final horse power to the wheels.

The xB will turn the dyno at 108horses at the flywheel. By the time you actually get to the tires, you're probably only laying down 97-98.5 horses. Remove the ac. That's what you have power windows for.

Strip the interior. You'll probably be able to stip the interior and come away with a 5 pound bag of useless screws. Gut the car. A rule of thumb used would be, "For every 100 pounds removed = 1hp. Each front seat weighs close to 30 pounds. Dump the passenger seat, and get an aftermarket seat for the driver. you'll save an average of 12 pounds over stock. Dump the rear seats, sound deadening material, plastics/interior, spare tire, rear seat belts, passenger seat belt, radio, speakers, wiring (copper wires can add up), and as expensive as it may sound, use carbon fiber where ever you can. It's just as good as metal and weighs less. Dump the airbags too, those weigh in close to 25 pounds combined. After gutting the car you may be able to lose almost 500 pounds of dead weight and gain the proportionate 5hp.

Combine all that work with dc headers, and good CAI, and an exhaust system from http://www.precisionmuffler.com (shameless plug) you could be turning the dyno at 108 hps.

Or buy a tC.

(I hate my job so much that I took half an hour to write the preceeding)

Umm, how about a "drive it like you stole it" bumper sticker? Or a "powered by Toyota/Scion" sticker? As a last resort, paint the bumpers neon yellow/green/or pink. Maybe flames? You may not acutally make more h.p., but it will sure look like it :D

How exactly is NOS not forced induction? It's NO2. The O stands for oxygen.

Anyway, w/o FI, then you'll need lots of internals like the other guys have said: cams, rods, valves, port, polish, crank, pistons....off the top of my head.

Uh well actually its N2O, not NO2. Theres 2 nitrogens bonded to the oxygen molecules, and that stabilizes the oxygen - thats why Nitrous isn't flammable.

Nos is FI but in a totally different realm than a t/c or a s/c.

Unless your asking about how to increase your hp a lot in reference to a tC, your asking in vain. You can't do it with the xB's an A's w/o some kind of FI...going the NA way is just impractical on an engine so small...which also makes it not-good for strong FI kits except nitrous...but even then you shouldn't exceed 50shot...your out of luck here. Those cars are for what is called "pimping", not racing.

OK, Here's what's really up...

The engine performance parts currently on the market are the pits. They are all designed to bolt on easily but because of that the design paramaters are limited and they produce little HP.

Here's what you can do though, DC header, Ingen intake, and a full header to bumper 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust. You will gain about 10hp, not much but you will feel it. Until someone makes REAL performance parts that's about all there is.

If you have the $$ you can have a custom header built to actually make power but before you hand your $$ over to someone you had better make sure they know what they are doing, most don't. You could also have a custom 2.5" intake built-the current intakes use 2.25" tube-any larger and the MAF can't read correctly so you would need an AFC to tune it. A custom intake manifold and slightly larger throttle body would be good if you can afford it too. WebCam can custom grind cams if you've got the $$ to prototype some designs.

If you spent enough $$ and knew what you were doing you could reach about 150hp. N/A.

Thanks for the correction, I was almost sure it was N20, but another reference sported NO2. The system is different, but the concept is the same. You're enriching the air/fuel mixture by adding oxygen. In one case you're using a compressor, in the other you're using a oxygen rich "fuel." Well, you get the idea.

But back to performance, I wonder what you could with ITBs. Don't count out a motor just because it's small. N/A race 4age's make 240 hp, and it's a 1.6 liter, but that's the 20valve. The formula atlantic 4age is around 220 hp, or so I understand. Nevermind they rev to around 11k rpm. But hey, the guy asked for hp, not where he wanted it.
