Default how long can i expect my stock struts/shocks to last if...

hey,

how long can i expect my stock struts/shocks to last when i lower my car on the trd lowering springs?

(i'm sure this has been posted at some point in the middle of some other topic and would take years to find...so i thought i'd be save myself some time and have everyone get mad at me and start a new topic)

thanks.

they should be able to take normal situations but if you are planning to take it to the track or go offroading or soemthing like that, i would get a brand new set of struts/coilovers or soemthing like that.

but then again, if you were doing that you probably would have enough mind to do that anyways

I put on struts/shocks at the same time as the springs, but a friend of mine just put on springs, and his lasted for almost 10K before he needed to replace them. He was doing normal day to day driving - if you were doing any hard cornering on a consistant basis, they'd probably last less...

I've got stock struts on my car. Lowered on s-techs for 2 years now and they're still pretty strong :D I'd imagine TRDs would last even longer

you guys that have the trd's, do you ever have trouble with going over speed bumps or anything?

i'm running hotchkis on stock struts for 11,000 miles now with no problems. knock on wood. i'm pretty strapped for cash right now so i'm kind of paranoid cause if they go out anything within the next 2 months or so i'm completely screwed

you shouldn't have any problems, the TRDs are the mildest drop you can get. honestly, i'd go with something a little lower, whenever i glance at a tc with trd springs i do a double take since it looks almost stock.

I would go with Tein H Techs. it drops its a little more then 1 inch. To me personally, I almost went TRD but you spend so much money to get 1 inch that it wasn't worth it, So i went with the Tein H techs and the ride is perfect, it covered the gap and didn't get crazy. it drops it 1.9 in the front and 1.5 in the back. and much cheaper.

If you need some, pm me, i know where to get a good deal.
