How long do you plan on owning?

umm with the way economy is, i would stick with the TC cuz buying another car would cost even more. No sense in spending more money when the car is paid off and all i gotta worry about is gas and insurance..but thats just my $.02

How long have you been working for UPS? I heard they only hire drivers internally so that means it might be a while until a drive retires or dies. And its from senority too.

Mine's paid off as well, but I plan on selling it this summer (reason why I halted on mods). I only bought it because I wanted a new car that was cheap and get me from point A to B for the time being (college). Also while looking good.
I'm looking to get either a new STI or EVO, I'll be test driving both to see how I feel. (I only deal with new cars... I had a 94 before... don't care for old second hand cars)
Why the STI or EVO only? Just a personal preference. I owned a 1994 Celica Coupe before the TC and loved the history behind it. Fell in love with the 6th gen GT4's as well as the 5th gen All Trac's (one of my friends used to own an All Trac, and I have friends with EVO's and WRX/STI's) so naturally I'm bias for AWD Turbos.
Luckily I don't really feel any effects of the economy.

I'm probably not the only one who's parents who are in their late 50s or early 60s. Grew up on the 1960s-1970s Muscle car era. Growing up I heard SO many stories from my Dad talking about his Plum Crazy '70 Challenger. Then it always ended as "I wish I still had that car...."
I have a feeling that if I was to let it go; I'll tell those same stories and end it with "I shouldn't let it go." This car is a symbol for me; you know "There's Andrea..." Because of that, if I ever was in a car sales desk customer chair & trading it in; I would be in tears.
I'm planning on keeping him. Save those payments when he's paid off and buy him a garage girlfriend named "Lexi" aka Lexus IS 250/350.

Until the wheels falls off...then I will put them back on and keep going!!
My parents taught me at a young age to Buy new and keep it until it won't go another mile...well I took that philosophy 1 step further and buy good condition used and keep it until it won't go another mile.
I will never, ever, ever, ever buy a new car...it is such a waste of money (documentation fee, dealership delivery fee, one-time $250 use fee...wtf!!) they nickel and dime you...whereas I got my car on craigslist at 80k for $8,000 before state sales tax at the DMV...
I paid cash because I sold all my assault rifles when Obama became president and they doubled or tripled in value...plopped it down on a car I have wanted for a long time...and I LOVE MY CAR.
But if something does happen to it, I might move on...or just might buy like an 08 and move all my mods over...either way this tC is staying with me for a while.

It depends. I ended up with an rs 5.0, but only after trying to first purchase an 09 si coupe. The dealer couldn't get one in black w/o navigation & extras, which pushed the price of a sky-blue model he found up to $27k. I went over to my Toyota dealership the same day, saw the 5.0 and instantly purchased it.
I took out a 72 month loan @ 5.45% on the tC. I put $2500 down, and financed $19k. I've held off on doing any mods to the car because I want to pay the car off first. The problem is, I'm not sure when would be a good time to do this. I have enough saved to pay it off, but I don't want to feel broke. I like my nest egg
I'll probably keep the tC for quite a while though. It's reasonably cheap to insure (i have 100/300k pip/bi, $50k property, collision & comp, for $100/mo), it gets decent gas mileage when you actually use the cruise control & drive without a lead foot, and it looks really nice. Plus I already spent ~$1k on snow tires & steel wheels for the oh so awesome winters we have here in NY. If i do end up keeping it though after its paid off, I'll probably start my mods finally.

cars paid off, keeping it for quite sometime. 05 with 106k miles on it and it would be much cheaper in the long run to just buy a new motor/tranny, if anything ever happened (god forbid) then financing a new car.
