How Many Miles Does Your Scion tC1 have and What Year is it??
#1484
All these good low mileage tC's and also nice to see people putting down real miles on them.
2010 FM with 54k Original Owner. I got the car with 7miles on it and no issues besides the regular maintenance and topping off with half a quart of oil between oil changes.

Hey deuce, do you have an engine maintenance log or insight you can share (outside of fluids)?
I'm concerned about my valves and timing chain, they haven't been touched for 115k. Still making the same flutter sound at idle since it was new in 2010.

Bought it new December 2004, changed oil and filter every 5K, Mobile 1. Plugs at 100K, need to do them again now. That's it - never had any problems with the engine or drivetrain.
Never been to the dealer for any of the 20K, 50K, or whatever K maintainence checks either.

I haven't done anything or changed anything internally, still on the original timing belt as well.

2011 Scion tC..
Had my 2011 tC since 2015 so almost 5 years now. It currently has 190,452 miles. My starter went out today and I got it replaced reason why I came to this thread.
The only thing i had to do with my Scion was:
-2 batteries
-Replaced alternator
-And the starter
My baby is running like a champ. I get oil changes on time
I first got it at 61k miles and i just took care of it.
I am going to put as many miles as I can until the engine or transmission goes out because I'm not replacing those things. I will keep y'all updated.
I live in Texas so i do put many miles on this bad boy.

Nice! No need to change the transmission or engine. I have 303,000 on my engine and she's still going. I've only changed the injectors which is normal after so many miles. They lasted around 250,000 miles before they started failing and a couple coils. At least change the transmission fluid and filter to keep the trans going. And use the original trans fluid from Toyota.
I've also changed the alternator, starter and batteries. But those are normal wear and tear parts. Engine is still good. Keep her going!

05 w/ 256k.
replaced compressor and condenser (magnetic clutch failure and ..front end damage...) but stock alternator and starter still going strong. going to need pass c/v axle soon, but otherwise suspension is solid. transmission still feels good, clutch has plenty of grab.

08/ 58k - manual trans
Oil changes, front brake pads, third set of tires, lol. Still have all stock, external engine components. Added a catch can to reduce liquid oil in the intake. Might reduce detonation and throttle body cleanings. I plan to keep it as long as it's willing. Seems happy with spirited and non-spirited driving.
I changed the gear oil at ~45,000. I change the power steering fluid every ~25k because it burns (and I don't want to do a rack replacement.) Other than that, I'm just waiting for the first thing to break.
