Default How-To: Stainless Door Sill Protectors (with pics)

Okay, so I got my first batch of accessories from McGeorge Parts (Highly recommended! Ordered Wednesday, got everything today!) a few minutes ago: mudguards, amber LED illumination, and the door sill protectors. Since it was getting dark, I only had time to do the side sills. Here's how I installed them:
1) Pull up on original plastic sill protector. It's attached with three clips that are part of the protector. Mine came off very easily.
2) Make sure the surface underneath is clean. The new sills attach with adhesive, so if the painted sill is dirty or greasy, clean it. Mine were clean, so I just had to remove the remnants of the clear plastic that covered the plastic sills from the factory.
3) Remove backing from the two adhesive strips on the stainless sill plate. First line up the post on the plate with the front hole in the sill then line up the rear post on the plate with the elongated hole at the back of the sill. Push down on the whole thing.

That's it! It took me as long to write this as to install them! I think they look great. Here are some pics:

Thanks for posting the pics, those add a nice touch to the car! I ordered my door sills from my dealer over three weeks ago and they aren't expected to be in till the end of the month :-(. Can't wait to get them though, they look awesome! -Jayme

$64.90 plus $6.17 shipping for the door sills. They're $115 from the dealer.

I plan on doing the mud guards tomorrow. They look easy (you just have todrill some holes for the rear.) The light kit, on the other hand, looks a little more difficult. Lots of removing of panels, securing wires, drilling, etc. I might actually get the subwoofer first and install them at the same time so I don't have to remove some of the stuff twice.

Thanks for the info... I now feel comfortable doing my own door sills... Anyways... can you please post some pictures and instructions on how you install the mud guards. I want to add those to my car too. Also when you purchased your mudguards... are the a set of 2 or a set of 4?

The Randode light kit doesnt require any cutting, drilling, or removing any panels. And I have them in stock. :D

Hey Ranode.. can you reccomend a led light that is a similar shade to your blue cold cathodes? I'm considering getting your cathode kit but I want to know if I'll be able to match the rest of the lights in the car with it.

It's a set of 4, and they're cheap unless you get them from a dealer.

The people at McGeorge are pretty cool and I definitely recommend them. In fact, that's who I'm buying my tC from as soon as it arrives at the dealer from the port (hopefully early next week!!!).

The guy from McGeorge has been posting a bit on this forum - he's super nice. He emailed me the pdf instructions for a few different installations (sub and auto-dimming mirror). If anyone is curious about how hard it is to install a particular part, you should email him and get the directions. It's fun having the factory information at your fingertips. I wish someone had the full dealer manual - that would be great to look at.
