i tried it now my rpm is idling constantly at 2, or maybe my rubber is too thick.

I did it. Took about 5 seconds. Found an adhesive backed rubber foot, like for putting on the bottom of a toaster. It was a little thick, bumped the idle to about 1200, but a few upward pulls on the accelerator made a little divot for the pedal arm.

I have to say, it in combination with the Homebrew Damper... nice. crisp pedal, no motor slop/rock... it is now as nature intended. Somebody hurry otu and buy Harmonic_tC a frosty beverage. His ingenuity has earned it.

i just tried this. when I used a piece 1/8" thick it idles at 2k, when i used a piece about 1/16" thick it idles at 1.1k or so. I don't want to mess up my idle timing, but this does actually seem to be leading somewhere. Just need something even thinner? Harmonic- your rpms didn't change at all?

haha you all ar making me

To the person who has his idle too high, just try something thinner. Itll work, im sure every pedal may differ depending on use

Dr.I, instead of a beverage how about a radiator cover?? LOL im totally kidding, although i do need to buy one from ya.

Ill get pics but honestly, you really dont need any. just get down by the pedal and feel around. i think youll see what im talking about real soon.

for those waiting on pics, gimme a few hours, im still building 3 sub boxes for a friend so when im done with that ill take some pics.

after driving for a little with a slightly higher RPM (using the 1/16" piece), the idle RPM and responsiveness dropped to normal. I thought the piece must have fell out, but it was still there. I then replaced it with the 1/8" piece and it is now making no difference. How can this be?

Well I just did this mod with some velcro and it works great! I know it wont last as long but it will last me till I can get to the 99 cent store to pick up some of that rubber bottom stuff....Or just forget about it and keep driving like I usually do...^_^

did you let the engine warm up for a few mins before attempting this mod? the idle goes all crazy for the first few mins anyways without the mod, i would warm it up, even drive a little with it, then with the car on, try the mod.

i'm going to attempt it in the morning

gas mileage has not chenged, though not sure why it would. I took some pics but all they came out to be is a blurry peice of black metal. And you cannot even see the part i added.

i will try again for pics but honestly, all you guys gotta do is get down there and look/feel around. Its really easy

Thanks! I have been contemplating coming up with a fix for this myself but haven't had time. Every car I have owned for the last 13 years has been a 5 or 6 speed and I have never found one that had delay this bad. Of course my FM only has 1300 miles on it, I am in the middle of moving and getting married in less than a month, plus a merger at work and tons of overtime haven't really left me a lot of time to experiment or mod. Great Job! If you make it to Detroit, firt round is on me =)

I'm just repeating what others have said, but Harmonic, everything you have said is right on IMO, your description of the problem and explanation for the fix sounds great. Will definitely give it a try, may ask dealership to do it, will print out this thread to show I'm not the only one with this problem. And the fix sounds like it may correct the problem. While there will always be that electronic throttle lag, by getting instant throttle as soon as you apply pedal pressure, this may help to correct the sensitivity problem of the pedal.

GREAT JOB HARMONIC-ingenious!
