Default I got royally owned today!

Up until this point, my TC has been great...

Today I was exiting the highway coming up the offramp, red light so I stopped. About to turn green so I TRY to shift into first. Clutch all the way in and IT WONT GO INTO FIRST. Let off the clutch, tried shifting into 2nd and then back to first, NOTHING. Wont go into gear, so I had to shift into 2nd so I wouldn't ____ off the people behind me. Pulled into a parking lot to try it again and same thing, WOULDN'T go into first.

Got it home starting out in 2nd gear, but the service dept is closed, got to wait until tomorrow.

The car just turned 3000 miles, didn't show any problems up until that point. WTF is wrong with it :?:

umm, even if you do get it fixed...get it looked at...that's not a problem you'd want to risk coming back...

Certainly not, but it's not a problem that would impair you from driving the car. Unless you are driving up Mt. Everest, 2nd gear has got plenty of power to pull out from.

That's a drag. But please keep us informed of what transpires. I'm very curious.

I've had the same problem a couple of times, but luckily got the clutch into first lately and no problems yet. Let us know what happens.

Maybe you all have noticed, but when your put the gear in, to say 1st, and you're on the brakes, sometimes it is quite difficult. I have yet to learn enough about transmissions to know the technical way of saying things, but basically the transaxle gear and the cv axles have to lock into place so that motion is transfered without it slipping. In order to prevent slipping, the gear slots may not be that small. When your off the brakes, your car may roll back a little bit allowing easy access to the "groove" to get it into gear. If you are on the brakes, your axles won't move since your wheels won't, making it difficult to shift.

Just try to shift into first while not on the brakes (obviously, i'm speaking of at a stop), see if it's easy 100% of the time. If not, then something is wrong for sure.

*** I Am completely basing this on what little knowledge I know relative to people who got certification for this sort of thing. I'm simply adding insight ***

I had a problem slipping into 4th. When shifting out of third I try to throw it into 4th, but the little governor plate blocks me out and it accidentally slips into 2nd.. no fun. Oh well, it's a mechanical part.. it may take some work to get it worked in.
