Default I love catching criminals

Two months ago a single stock rim/tire was stolen off my car. Well I heard from a friend of a friend that a kid living a block from my house had stolen it from me with a buddy of his. Went and checked that night at 2AM. Sure enough, my Avon tire with my TRD air cap were on the front right of his car. Funny part is it's a directional tire which he had mounted on the wrong side.

The detective made the kid take it off his car while it was snowing. I can pick it up at the police station. I love this.

My only dilemma is i now need to decide whether to charge him with possession of stolen property (can't nail him for felony theft as there is no proof).

If I charge him, the dumbass may retaliate and f up my car.

What do you think?

i think if he went to the trouble of actually stealing the wheel off of your car you should charge him for stolen property. if it was just out of your garage i would say dont press charges cause it would be embarrasing enough to get caught and take it off in the snow lol

did he mess up your tire by driving on it with the tread in the wrong direction?

It was taken off of my car. Lugnuts and all. I don't know what shape it's in yet. I have to pick it up from the station today. I find it ironic he old the cop that he bought it from someone in a bar, yet when the officer told him i wanted my lugnuts back, he happened to have 5 extras laying around. When would someone ever sell you a wheel and then ask if you wanted lugnuts with that? It's not McDonald's and french fries.

invest in wheel locks and a alarm if you dont have one allready. if he messes with your car after that, you know who did it.

driving on directional tires backwards doesn't really hurt anything...but when you go to drive in the rain...things would get really interesting...

press charges... and tell him.. he touches your car or anything happens to your car he's going to be the number one suspect... dont let a thief get away with anything because all he'll do is do it again...

in hialeah we cut we the fingers off of thieves =D

So was your car sitting on blocks or did he steal your jack stand to lift it?

Yeah I don't think I'm going to shoot him.

The detective was trying to talk me out of charging him because "he's in the military and about to be deployed". Last time I checked, being in the military doesn't give anyone the right to steal. If anything, he should have more discipline than a civilian.

The kid also has marijuana charges so, more than likely he's a pretty big loser (no offense to successful potheads).

Seriously thinking of pressing charges. I just don't see what benefit I'll get, other than wrecking this kids week. I do get a sense of satisfaction when I drive by his house and see his shiny yellow spare tire though.

I say turn his life upside down, the guy should have thought of the consequences before he stole your wheel and tire. As the saying goes, "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime." And his time would be not getting deployed in the military. Hell, I don't want these types of people serving for me anyways.

It's in Chicopee, second largest city in the western end of the state after Springfield.

Spent my lunch at the PD. Turns out the detectives suck so bad they can't even find a stolen rim in their own building. I left empty handed.

Maybe I should file charges against the PD for stealing it.

Military + Stealing + Pothead = Kick his azz out. We don't need him representing us over there putting good men at risk because of poor decision making skills. That'll get you or others killed over there.
