Default Just a friendly reminder...

To check your cabin air filters! I have only owned my car for 2 months and I stuck in a filter the 2nd day I got it. It just checked it today when I was washing the car and this is what it looked like.

Clean ----- Dirty

Just a heads up... keep those cars clean

Yikes. I've had my tC for a year without changing the cabin air filter. If that is what it looks like after 2 months, I wonder what it looks like after 12 months.

Yeah and that fact that if the filter had not been in place that dirt would now be spead throughout my car. Glad I read up about the filter before I bought the car and poped it in the next day.

Yeah, about that...

What's the deal with missing filters? I heard this might only be true of earlier models? Do the new(er) tCs come with a filter installed? I guess the easiest way to find the answer would be to go outside and look for myself, but I am too lazy. I have an 07, so does the 07 come with or without a filter? If I don't have a filter, I will probably just go to Toyota and complain about it until they give me a free one.

yeah i know, i did the same thing. Toyota makes me laugh by not putting a filter there, but having everything there for the filter, including the tray.

My 08 did not come with a filter so I would assume that the 07's did not either. As far as why, I have no idea.

The only way I would have ever even known there was a slot behind the glovebox is from reading the tech section on here about how to install it.

The filter is located behind the glovebox. You have to remove the glovebox to find it.

I suspect that I probably don't have a filter then, since I didn't install one manually. Sounds like it's time to get a filter!

For those of you who discover that you never had a filter in the slot, its definitely time to get one. You can just pick up a standard furnace filter (the kind you use in your house) and cut it to size. Works great at less 1/4 the price of buying one from Toyota.

^ Yeah, if that's 2 months in Bakersfield, then I wonder what my lungs look like after a year in L.A. with no cabin air filter.

You can get one from the dealer. Its the same size as the xb and xa. Or you can take the cheap route and just purchase a furnace filter from lowes or homedepot or somewhere similar and cut it to size.
