Key dead

Key dead
Well I have no key right now and no chip. I have a couple of keys cut to fit in my tC but none have a programed immobilizer. Don McGill in Katy wants more than the car is worth to program a new one. It's either find a way to program a new chip to the car without a working chip or just toss the car and start fresh.

There is a programming sequence posted here in SL on how to reprogram the key - lots of turning ignition on and off and pushing buttons and opening the driver door . . . it will sound crazy but it will work. Search is your friend!

1. Start with the following conditions: You are in the drivers seat-
a. Key is out of the ignition
b. Driver door is open (all other doors closed)
c. Driver door is unlocked (other doors don't matter)
2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition twice within 5 seconds
3. Close and open the drivers door twice within 40 seconds
4. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it.
5. Close and open the drivers door twice within 40 seconds
6. Insert the key into the ignition
7. Close the door
8. Turn the key in the ignition on and then off.
9. Remove the key from the ignition
10. The power locks should automatically cycle once to indicate that you have successfully entered program mode.
11. Within 40 seconds of the entering program mode:
a. Press both transmitter lock and unlock buttons SIMULTANEOUSLY for a duration of from 1 to 1.5 seconds.
b. Within 3 seconds, press the transmitter lock button for more than 1 second and release.
c. If the transmitter has been successfully programmed, the power locks will automatically cycle once. If they cycle twice, the remote has not been accepted.
d. If multiple remotes are to be programmed, repeat steps A-C
12. Open drivers door
This is for the lock and unlock.

Chris was saying Draxcaliber and Grage1217 have done it with ECU swaps but I cannot get a hold of them and cannot find the posts using google or search with Scionlife clubsciontc and yoursciontc

it should not be worth over a grand. only a few hundred to rekey the whole thing since you lost.. all 3 keys??
how'd you only end up with one key and then messing that one up?
the ecu swap procedure will not work in your instance... as the only method to fix everything at this point is using TechStream.... (multi-thousand dollar laptop that the dealership has)
obviously the stealership asking for over a grand and a week with the car... are completely stupid and probably would need that much time for them to figure out how to use the laptop.. as i doubt they anyone trained to use it properly (which sounds like they don't..)
it will be a more complex procedure since you don't have a working chip whatsoever... and i ask again.. what happened to your other spare keys?
some specialized locksmiths can actually reprogram everything as well... though those that are trained and have the proper equipment are most times.. hard to find.
