Default malfunction indicator lamp

just got my TC auto today, and I noticed that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp has stayed on the whole time the car was in use. by the way I put in almost 200 miles this first day. has this happened to anyone? as suggested in the manual, I checked for a loose fuel tank cap, and it was securely tightened. any advice is appreciated.

did u leave the dealership w/ it on and if so why didnt you bring it up there.... i was going to suggest the fuel cap... but i think if someone put gas in it... (at the dealer) assuming they filled the tank for you and assuming you havnt filled it yourself yet.. that if the cap was placed on wrong or not tightened all the way.... light comes on and who ever noticed jumped out and tightened it.... anyway if that was the case i think the light eventually goes off.... the TC i test drove had this same thing goin on and i asked the sales rep and he explained the whole gas cap story and that the light eventually goes off... prob after your next fill up... but dont take my word for it... its alot of hearsay from others to me... your best bet is to take it up with the dealership

if it was the gas cap, chances are you'd still have to take it to the dealership. i work at a chrysler dealership and we get this issue all the time. we have customers bring their cars in so we can put a computer on it and check for evap leaks and if it is the gas cap they can just clear the codes (turn the light off) and have u on ur way.
