I don't know my best. Maybe 300-ish, but I usually see 260-280.

There seems to be a pretty big spread, considering we all have the same car. Some people have an all-time best of 300 and others are breaking 400. What gives?

389.1 miles.

Fill up was 13.6 gallons, which is only 28.6mpg, still far and away the best I've ever gotten. 95% freeway.

I think if someone were to drive conservatively (55-65mph), non-stop for about 8 hours, they could hit 450 on a tank.

my best was only around 320
drove all freeway before but didnt keep track
keep in mind the spread is due to people having different mods, elevation, temperature, freeway %, ... u get the idea
i am stock everything except for short shifter
btw some people are brave and fill in for 13 gallons
most i've done is 11.4 gallons

I went from Cedar Falls, IA to Mitchell, SD on one tank... Google Maps says thats 367 miles. Basically all interstate at 75-80 mph. I drive an 05 5-speed.

I've gone below the "R" line plenty of times and never ran out.

havent been on a road trip lately, but around town i usually fill up around 310 or so, just because i do drive it hard from time to time, im sure if i got off the gas it would be alot better, plus my car is modded with a header and stuff, so i knew it was going to run alittle rich

i have no idea, but i have never hit 300 lol

I live in LA, so it is a little trafficy (I just made that word up ) so that could effect it, but you live in LA too

The only engine mod I have right now is a Injen CAI

I drive normally, once in a while, i might push it just to hear the intake, but thats it

^ Same city, same engine mods, same style of driving. You should get better mileage. Weird.

Don't remember how many MPG may be something over 400 I got but I followed a Ford excursion with luggage on top about 10 feet behind him going about a steady 90mph on the way to Florida for vacation right after I got the new tc. Never have beaten that MPG yet. I know I never got that with the old tc.

Yeah, I do that sometimes myself - follow semi's and stuff. If it works for the stock car racers, it should work for me right?

it was proven on myth busters or something that if you do follow behind a semi you save tons of fuel

haha, I know me too. I have a 5spd and on a full tank I will barley get 320ish. Thats with me taking the corners super gentle making sure I don't hit a dry spot. But then again I went trough the factory tires withing 18k miles.....

i am in the same boat as you kyle, i have never gotten to 300, although i do drive with a little bit of a heavy foot. i do live in hilly area and do more city than freeway 60/40ish, but i typically get 20-24 mpg, 24-25 mpg is the best i have seen and my car has 7000k+ miles on it already. still on stock wheels and no power mods yet.

whats kinda bothers me is that my bro drives his '01 audi a4 with the 1.8 turbo with an upgraded chip like a friggin maniac and still manages the same mpg as me!

i usually fill up @ 76 gas, could that be it?
and i usually try to fill up with 1/4 tank left, which is almost always 12 gallons and 240-260 miles

Yeah, I was pretty shocked by that. The MythBusters usually waste their time with pointless stuff and never really prove anything, but this was one experiment where they actually proved the benefit is very real. So if you don't mind all the rock chips and the potential for disaster, then tuck yourself in behind a semi and watch your MPG numbers soar.
