Default My tc was a victim of theft

so lastnight it was raining out........got home from work about 8pm at night..i park my car in my driveway with the front facing the street as how i like to park......

So i woke up about 6in the morning to go to work......and i noticed right away something wasnt right i noticed my RS1 side skirts were gone as with my front and back lip off the car i saw the screws laying on the ground.....i noticed my front upper grille with my tc logo glued to it ripped out of the bumper but the lower grill was still there........also my passenger side turn signal bulb that were blue it was gona also but my driver side were stil attached.......and my honda s2k shorty attenna was gone also...so i called the cops and reported it.....was goona do my insurance but it would have to be $500 or more of parts...there was no real damaged to the car itself no one actually attempted to brake in side or anything.....i guess they wanted the parts....im sure it couldnt of been worse then what it was.....

i wil have pictures up soon..i thought i wouls share this with SL member or have similar experiences

New sideskirts and such will probably be well over $500 after being painted and what not. I'd still probably go through insurance - but does depend on your deductible and if you want to bother. Personally, I would if I were in your position.

Yeah man, sorry to hear about that. At least they knew how to get it all off without messing up your car. Minus the grill...

Apparently whoever it was doesn't know the value of those grilles. That would have been the first thing I'd go for on an RS1.

who ever took it knew what there were doing or what they wanted it for....cause i wouldnt just go to a civic and steal a front lip unless i knew the value of it or how to take it off..someone did there research and probably has a scion too and wanted to look like mine but didnt have the money for the parts or didnt know where to get it...but whatever the case maybe i do give them props for being gentle as far as the lip kit but the upper grill goona need some work

I wonder how effective our engine immobilizer is. Are there any tCs stolen with that thing activated? or do we still need an alarm?

what u mean....... it screws on both sides....how else could it be installed without them actually ripping off the bumper to get the lip off....i do go to alot of car shows and etc.....someone could of saw my car really like the body kit wrote down my plate number and some how got my address and went on from there....theres a 101 things that could of resulted in this happening..never had this problem before..i know it bound to eventually happen sometime but since the Ecomony is down people are desprite to steal stuff to get money or use the money or parts for something else...could of been someone i talk to at the shows asking me about my car could of been a random act...life goes on nothing i can do....all ican do is rebuild me car and try other parts..its what happens when you mod your car nicely your taking a risk of it being stolen or something....but you cant let that stop you from what u love to do just my opion..im just lucky that didnt take the whole car but rarly does that happen to a tc

RS2's are blue not red, and you can check your vin number. Did you buy your car used?

Man sorry to hear. I echo your thoughts...thank goodness they didn't take it further. I actually had Integra GS-R that I warded off thieves once in a Wal-Mart parking lot trying to break in through the rear hatch...and once I got my 99' Civic Si...there was no stopped them.

Found it gutted in a Downtown Dallas alleyway.

I feel ya, but man count your lucky stars that is all they wanted.

I'm trying to work this out... You had RS1 side skirts, as in the aftermarket brand. But you have a silver tC sold to you as a RS 2.0? And the grilles you have are chrome or not?
Only way to tell for sure is by the number plate, got one?

ok to sum it up..........i bought my tc used why cause most of the dealers i went to at
the time of purchase didnt have a new tc in stock with a 5 speed in silver thats what i wanted.....so after lookin and lookin i finally came across a used silver tc 5 speed with 35k miles was a 2006 at the time i didnt know about the release version and such....so i bought the car and later saw the manual and it said 2006 scion tc base RS2 now i could of misread something or it covered that model too or etc..

AS far as the parts

I bought the P1 lip kit from racing solutions..and the grill im talking about i bought from custom tc it wasnt stock grills.....

but i will double check that for you gies.....
