Need Pros/Cons between tC and Corolla XRS
aiite, my friend is deciding between a tC and a Corolla XRS. at this point it's basically neck-and-neck since he managed to haggle the XRS (17,53 within 20 dollars of the tC(17,51.
What should he choose? what are the Pros and Cons of both?
thanks!

tC is a much better looking car. For example, today, this kid in a semi-pimped (the new one with rims, kit, drop, tint etc.) Corolla drove passed my tC. He didn't know I was sitting in the car with the windows down and he practically stopped his car to check mine out.
He looked at his friend in the pass. seat and said "damn, that car is phat." Then noticed that I was sitting in the car, and drove away embarassed. And my car is STOCK!
So the moral of the story is, buy a tC.

Well, the Corolla has 4 doors but the rear seats don't fold down. So, you have a trunk you can barely fit anything in. I like the tC for the versatility.
My brother drives an 05 Corolla XRS and our cars have more power (10 hp less, but the torque more than makes up for it since we have 163 and they have 127 or so).
Also, the Corolla's gearing (6 speed) is whack! it feels like I'm constantly shifting his car and I have to rev it to 5K just to get the same acceleration that I get out of my tC.
My brother is jealous of me, that's how much better the tC is. Also, we get 17 inch tires, with better rims, and the XRS gets only 16s.
Oh, yeah, the Sat radio and MP3 capabilities that the Corolla lacks. Our seats are more comfy, too!

for the last 2 weeks i looked into purchasing a variety of cars. i thought about the XRS, but didn't think it was worth the extra money over the s. when it came down to it i wanted the most car for the best price. the tC comes with so many great features,
not to mention it looks amazing. the XRS is a great ride, but i didn't feel it was worth thousands more than the tC. both vehicles are rated very well. it comes down to what u like more, not us. both are worthy picks...for me it was the tC.

They are both cool cars by good manufacturers. The tC definitely stands out more though IMO. Even after 10 months I get asked about it and get compliments on it a few times a week.

Depends..does your friend have a family? If so then get the Corolla, but i bet you when you have it no one will ask WHAT KINDA CAR IS THAT WOAH NICE CAR they will just say..ahh just another Corolla.
Get the tC...Sporty, fun, fast, girls dig it, people will stare, people will ask WHAT CAR IS THAT, NICE RIDE...so your friends choice..i know what i went with..and i know what i wouldnt have gone with (Corolla)

I am guessing that most people on this forum considered the Corolla when they were buying a vehicle, and the tC came out ahead. So this is probably a bad place to ask that question.
However, I will still state why I picked the tC over the Corolla:
More power, it really seems faster even though it has less HP.
It's a coupe, I wasn't into the whole 4 door family car thing.
ANd IMO, the styling alone makes the car worth much more to me. If both car were exactly the same except the styling, I think I would even pay more just to get the tC.

XRS was one of my options too. the reasons i didn't choose it was because of bland interior styling compared to tC. you have to revit damn high to get good speed out of it, you seriously have to redline it to match the tC's accelleration.
it requires premium gas, but it isn't super charged or anything (this may not be true though, because in car and driver, it said regular unleaded)
the back seat doesn't fold down at all.
the xrs looks cool, but compared to the tC, it's a little bland and you need to work the engine a lot to get the most out of it.

XRS rolla is about the only one I'd consider purchasing. It has the 1.8l vvtl-i engine in it, the S and below has VVT-I. But i definitely would purchase a tC over it. Even though the tC engine needs a LOT of work. For Toyota to really market the tC as a sport compact car. They need to work on the 2AZ. The engine itself is solid. Really they don't need to do anything to it, besides putting in Lift, or better cams, They need to R&D a better stock intake and exhaust system. The way the tC's aspiration is set up now, its really difficult to have any after-market performance part that are Carb EO and emission legal. 2.4 or a 2.5 l engine is the Perfect size for the engine bay. the 2az engine really needs some performance R&D done to it.

It really doesn't matter which one you get, the Toyota Corolla is an honorary tC That what I told other Toyota Camry, Celica, and Corolla owners! I'm just happy with my Box!
