the camera I use is a nikon d50 but I don't think they make that any more , as stated before just start taking pictures and you will get better. The only problem with getting an SLR is that people assume your a pro photograhper.

try b&h photo and video... that is where I bought every piece of camera equipment I own.

and as for an SLR making you look like a pro, its true. There was a lumber yard fire around here not too long ago and I took my camera and tripod up to the fire and walked right past the yellow tape to the fire... actually some of my photos made it onto the news website! they are like photos 3-8 or something. look for Sean Carroll in the top right corner.

d40x with a kit lens can make some pretty decent shots. i know because i ran with the kit lens for a few months before realizing i could use my lenses from my film SLR. no AF though with those but i can with my d80

super sharp and great color. You can't beat Canon's lens quality on their cameras...I pretty much refuse to buy other brands of lenses....

L series lenses own my soul

its just extending the canvas size and adding text, recording it as an action and what not...

thanks for the compliments on the photos...and there are a few things i'm missing from my list that i need to get, like a 600mm and a back up body...soon enough tho...maybe...
