God, hope its built on a smaller platform... might just be the angle, but that Avensis looks bigger, longer, heavier than the one before it. I'm due for a new vehicle in '09, but if Scion xB's the tC, I'll be looking elsewhere. When the tC came out it was completely in a league of its own, fun, (reasonably) powerful, cheap, well optioned, etc. now that the rest of the $16-19k vehicles have caught up, it's going to have to do something worthwhile to make itself stand out again...

I'm just going to jump out there and say that im predicting that this is nothing like what the "tC replacement" will look like. It's not even a coupe and there is no way Scion will have a line without a coupe. That would ruin their demographic and rule out a ton of their current customers. My guess is they will stay tC-ish like they did with the xA/xD crossover.

yea, everyone is putting way too much connection between the avensis and the tC then there really is.

The current avensis and tC do share the same chassis. other than this, they have very little in common.

The next generation avensis seems like it will adopt the new face of toyota. i.e. camry, corolla. this does not automatically mean that the next-gen tC will be the same as well. The next generation tC may or may not be based upon the next-gen avensis chassis. They might even stick with the current chassis and not even switch over. Nothing is written in stone yet.

I think the next tC will resemble the avensis in the way the FJ looks like the 2004 4 Runner. Same basic guts baring no resemblance to the finished product.
