Well it was raining pretty bad this morning at 6am.I take all back roads to work.I live about 40 miles west of the DFW metroplex.
I was on my way to work and the roads where just starting to get bad.
I was coming up over a hill and didnt see the road was covered with water.
I had no time to stop or anything. I just said "man this is gonna suck"
My car was begging to slow down but the water carried it in.
The water was about 18"-20" deep. It past my knee.
No interior damage at all.
I did have a Fujita cold air intake with NO bypass but i dont think the bypass would of helped here. It was a small lake on the road.

Luckily the insuance is going to cover it ,so basically its a $500 mistake

I feel like an ___ though,im usually the safest driver. It was just something I couldnt control. Im gonna miss driving you TC,now I have to drive a 99 F-250 to work =/.

*update*
Insurance is being great,im glad I got Allstate, the dealer is allready working on the car. Only bad part is I live pretty far out and the motor is going to take a while to get to the dealer. He said 2 weeks max Im getting pretty much everything under the hood new and new interior floor/carpet.
Sucks that I have to go two weeks without my car. I really hate putting $90 in gas/week in this truck when the tc cost about $30

the bypass valve probably would have helped because when you were stopping, your foot wasn't on the gas, and the car would have just been taking in the minimal amount of air it needs to idle, instead of being forced to suck up water from the end of the cold air intake. so yeah, the bypass valve would have made a difference.

sorry it had to happen to you, but atleast your smart enough to have insurance. once your tc is all fixed up, go get that aem bypass valve from trdsparks.com. that part which only costs $50 bucks could have saved you $500 for your deductible. sounds like a reasonable insurance premium.

Insurance is being good to me and the dealer is being really nice.
Hopefully this will all be over soon and I can get back to my NAV with the D3 Instead of a big ___ truck and a mapsco

Sorry man that sux. but could have been prevented. that almost happend to me but i was lucky enough to have a spair bypass for my f5 intake. left over from an intake i had done on my 05 spec v. took it off when i sold it and put it on my tc. the roads and washes flash flood like crazy in az. one moment its dry land the next a river. lol but the bypass saved my tC from sippin some water.

but i did have to replace the filter afterword. it got all soggy and nasty sounding.

Sorry to hear, at least insurance is covering it. If you live in a easily flooded area did you consider running a sri?

I was under the assumption that insurance wouldn't cover hydrolocking if you had a CAI on. T/F?

EDIT: Does anyone know if the AEM bypass valve will fit the Injen CAI?

If I saw a lake coming at me, i'd clutch in, turn my engine off, and hold tight.

nice idea but doesnt quite seem 100%.

Sorry this happened to you. I wonder where all the Injen heads are now? I chose to go SRI from the beginning, and it really isnt a horrible choice.

Besides losing power steering and brakes, and possibly ending up stranded knee deep in this puddle, I think it would help out.

actually, you would still have brakes for a moment.

check your manual, in the event of an emergency, and the engine shuts off, the car stores enough vacuum power for approximately 3 full brake pedal applications.

try it, start your car and then turn it off, you can fully push the brake pedal down once or twice, and then the third time is usually pretty hard, and after that, it feels like the pedal will brake before it will move.

and you also have the e-brake too.

as for steering, cars are pretty easy to steer when they are still moving.
