Default oil and milage and burning

I have 54,000 miles on my 05 tC, been changing oil with mobil1 ever since 10,000 miles. Question is for those that change their own oil how much are you able to drain back out during your next oil change? I notice my car has been drinking oil like its nobody business. I change my oil every 5K, last time I change my oil it lost a quart. I didn't get a change to change my oil yet but I need to but I notice on the oil dip stick its at half now, which means I lost approx 2 quarts. But I also drive the car hard too. I know cars eat oil but I didn't know it drinks it! Just wondering if anyone else notice.

Every car is a little different. 1 qt in 5000 miles ive heard before.

If it makes you feel any better rotarys go through 1 qt in 3000 miles.

if it's 2 quarts low, don't wait to add oil. 2 quarts low means you only have 2 quarts in it right now so add some right away.

have you checked under your car for any oil drips, also take out and check your spark plugs to determin how they're burning. do you drive like an a$$, mis shifting, popping clutches at every light and jerking the car.

Have you changed your drain plug washer lately?

I have 46k on my car, and I had been noticing the same thing. It seems to have stopped when I changed out the washer last time I changed the oil.

yeah i change the drain plug washer every time i change the oil, its only like 70 cents for one, when i pick up the toyota oil filter i get the washer at the same time.
I guess its just the constant beating on the car thats why. I know hondas usually eat a lot of oil if you go into vtec a lot.

Typically the difference between the full and low mark on the dip stick is 1 quart. So if you are halfway between the two you are probably only half a quart low.

When you change the oil and filter do you re-measure the oil after driving for a day?
