Old Schoolers.. post up!
#22
Idk if I'm considered an "old schooler" but I was SL's youngest at one point!
Back in it's prime:
More recent:
Since then, the front lip got torn off, the driver side door has a dent from a hit and run, the passenger side quarter panel is still damaged from an accident, the entire bottom end had to be rebuilt after throwing a rod knock in two cylinders, the ____ty hatch is still on, suspension setup is switched to TRD springs / shocks, and currently the driver side window is shattered after it mysteriously fell off the track and broke. Car still remains my brothers.
I roll around in a 2012 Honda Fit nowadays after my 09 was totaled.

Hope everyone is doing well. SL seems to be dead / focused on 2nd gen tC's nowadays.

Old school? How about some beauty rings and white letters? And fender gap. And sidewalls. Haha, that's old school. You guys think the '90's are old school?

Oh that's what old-school was supposed to mean here? Sorry to step on some toes then.
Regardless, when I clicked to see what there was, I was expecting rat-rod xB's on red steelies and white-walls. This is more like a good ol' boys thread for members who've been here a while. It's confusing using one term for another.

There are still some great looking cars through the thread-- don't get me wrong. It's a shame to see those wrecks, too.
What I was referring to is old school style. Nothing Scion could be old by any measure of the sort. By the 90's reference, I meant things like the wheels and lowered stance being more modern.
Perhaps I had a bad segue to begin with. There are still a lot of people who would agree that "old school" is a term referring to more retro touches on a modern base. Many modern cars like VW Golfs to Scion's have gone with an old-fashioned mix of old rat-rod looks like black matte paint, red wheels, Harley mirrors, etc. Some even go as far as purposeful rust and Vlasic Pickle jars for hub caps.
Likewise, old-school bringing in old drift-culture cues from the 1980's AE86 (white with black hood and bumpers, yellow foggies, Wantanabe RS').
Besides, what's with the hate for the xB? It's not pretty, but it's still Scion brethren (more so than my car, even if they're nearly the same thing underneath).
I'm not trying to be an _______, just trying to explain what I meant by what old-school means. I'm not hear to start trouble. For some reason, out of all the forums I've ever graced, this one seems to hold a lot more animosity for a "new guy" than any other. Hell, I've brought my car into motorcycle forums and had a lot less trouble. Lighten up dude, you're still representing the forum. Or make what's meant as a joking jeer more apparent with a simple ":p ." Then I wouldn't be so defensive.

Do you really need to keep perpetuating the issue? I'd hope an admin of such long-standing stature on the forum would be more rational, and would know better than to keep getting after a new guy who has already realized his mistake and had otherwise carried on.
Again, I'm merely taking a defensive posture against the context in which I'm reading your message. As I stated before, you're still representing the forum and indeed the brand ownership, yet here you are continuing to push in a negative direction that, had you just let it sit at my explanation of my confusion, I wouldn't be posting this right now. Make a judgment call: is it worth it to continue berating me based on something I'd already left with a blush? I'll put that up to the fellow posters of this thread as well.
