ordered scion security & dealer installed generic alarm
has this happened to anyone else?
i noticed on my 3rd day of ownership that they installed the wrong alarm. some generic crap called "automate" i think. has this happened to anyone else? it was 5pm on saturday when i noticed and now i'll have to wait til monday after work to go in there and tell them they are going to install the correct alarm on my car. i paid $469 for scion security and was never informed i was getting a cheaper version. i am so mad.

I got a viper 330v add-on to my factory keypad installed for like $200.

i'm willing to bet it was cheaper for the dealer to try and sneak this by me and/or easier for them to install.

it might be the dealers option to choose who they contract to install it, when i got my alarm they had an outside company install it for them wich took a week and a half to get it done after it was payed for. call and ask what kind of alarms they have available but dont tell them you got one thru them allready, or ask for a brochure of the alarm they installed on your car

no experience.. though i hear it has shock sensors at least.
scion security has a limited amount of features.
if your window is open, car armed.. and if someone trys to open the door from the inside... car locks and alarm goes off.. if window is broken.. alarm goes off.... other than that, there's not much else.
you can kick a hole in the door and scion security won't go off.
you can do a bit of searching.. including looking up the words "scion security sucks" and you'll get a few results

even his smart a$$ remark is full of ****, did you ever think the dealer sets the alarm toward minimum so that its not alway going off for no reason. set the sensitive button to your standard or max

Are there better ones out there at a lower cost? Perhaps. But in any case, the poster didn't ask for opinions on the stock alarm. She asked if anyone else had this problem. And the answer to every post is not "you should have searched."
erynne936 - did you go in to the dealer today? What did you find out?

the frequency of glass breaking and loudness determines the alarm going off.. say if a rock hit the glass and the alarm was sensitive enough.. yes... it should go off... as the rock hitting the glass creates the "glass breaking frequency"
