Default Please help my friend Guille!

Hi Friends,

Saturday, June 20th, my buddy Guille was involved in a car accident on his way to work in the morning. The other driver smashed into my friend's 2008 blue tC (passenger fender). Luckily, Guille was wearing his seatbelt and his airbags deployed just in time. As my friend got out of the car shaken by this freak accident, he noticed that the other driver's car caught on fire (possibly an oil leak). Within 10 minutes of getting out of the car, the fire grew and it passed onto my friend's tC. This fire practically destroyed his car...as you can see in the pictures, there's noticeable paint and frame damage, the interior is completely melted away and all that was left was the skeleton of the car.

This was my buddy's daily driver and it's what he used to commute to school and go to work. It was a total loss. He spoke to his insurance company and they're paying off his car, but they're not giving him money back for it because he owed more on the car than what it was worth. I know if my tC went up in flames, I would be devastated...depressed...and just hurt overall. That was his baby, and his friendship means a lot to me and to others around him so I thought of the idea of setting up a donation for him so we can raise enough money for a down payment so he could purchase a new car. I wanted to share the news with the Scion community so that you guys can hopefully find it in your hearts to help a fellow Scion owner out. I'm sure with everyone's help, we'll raise enough money in no time. My goal is $5000. If 100 people put in $50, that completes the goal. I'm not asking for you guys to put $50 to help out a complete stranger, but whatever you can give is greatly appreciated. My friend Guille has always been there for his friends and fellow scion owners and he's always been a giver. Hopefully now he can recieve something special from all of us that I'm sure he won't ever forget.

Guille's known on ScionLife as Guille_Tc.

Please send your donations via paypal to JPLATA85@YAHOO.COM

Thanks,
Johnny

this is nice of you, but i doubt anybody will donate money.... like most people i actually like to see where my money goes and not just send it off. wait a sec, does it really matter that he owed more money then it's worth? the accident wansn't his fault....

no but it does matter when insurance is going to pay the owner for the car when that person owes more than it's worth (i.e. traded another car for this one and rolled the value of the previous car into the payments for tC) which cannot be done vs. if you owe $5K but the car is worth $14K then you pay it off and come out with $9K.

I bought my car with no money down... tell him to go to the dealer, they will easily put him into a car with no money down.

Depending on his credit/income, it might even be a nice car.

Good luck either way

If I'm not mistaken . If he had after market item and or any valuables inside dureing accident they would normally pay for those item Apart from paying car off... And if you wanted you could get up to 5K in small clams court for damages. That insurance didn't cover!!! From other car owner

Tell your friend to go get himself a lawyer, the lawyer should be able to get him enough money to put down for a new car, I got rear ended a couple of years ago, I got my self a lawyer and he got my car fixed, got all of my medical bills payed off and even got me about 12K clean for me to spend on what ever I wanted, this is bull...his insurance is taking advantage of him.

Yea, chances of getting donations are like meeting Jesus. It's not going to happen. Economy is tough and people want to know where their money is going.....And yes, $50 is a large donation for someone that nobody knows. Economy is tough, and $50 is over a tank of gas. Lawyers can do amazing things. Advise him of this.

i don't have money to donate to the cause, but while some are beating up on Bads33d's idea please realize this is Miami. Hopefully the owner of the other car had insurance (it's very common for people around here NOT to have insurance, more less that speak english) . A lot of cats around here aren't citizens. I can't guarantee that it's not a scam, but i'm pretty sure it's legit.

I second Guille going to the dealer and getting another car for no money down. I'd also look into suing the person who hit him; hopefully they aren't apart of the crowd that are living way outside of their means and he can get money out of them. honestly, now that i think about it--why isn't the other person's insurance paying for the damages?

I paid 18,838 for my car, 4.9% rate for 60 months and my payment was 351.81 . i got my loan from a credit union.

i feel for him though, as this can happen to anyone, esp. here in miami where people don't give two s#!ts about others.
