absolutely, just say you no longer want it and they will refund the remaining value that you have decided not to use.

What exactly does it do or cover? Anyone 'use' it yet or whatever? I havn't had any warranty claims, but I've only had the car since June.

I think it may vary by dealer and the plan, but I got a platinum plan for $1500 that apparently covers most everything except wear and tear items (tires, wiper blades, battery, etc). I'm still in my original warranty so I haven't used it yet. But you can get a full refund for it if you haven't used it yet, or a pro-rated amount for what you have.

Yes, you can get it refunded. I just got mine refunded when I sold the tC. The dealership has a form you have to fill out. But note it's prorated from day 1, not from when the factory service expires. For example, my extended warranty was to 75,000 miles. I had 30,000 when I traded it in, so I'm only getting a little over half of it back, even though none of it was actually used.

you should try reading the fine print on your contract, it tells you how to cancel. it also tells you whats covered, and whats not covered.. imagine, reading the peice of paper in question, answers your question!

I think this is why they are different by dealer. Mine is prorated from the day after the factory warranty expires, and only for things that I've used. For example, if the 60k powertrain factory warranty will cover something at 50k miles, then it won't reflect towards my extended warranty. My last Honda had the same deal. I went over 100k miles on it without ever needing my extended warranty and I got the full amount back in a check.

I cancelled mine a week after I bought the car. If you cancel within 30 or 60 days, i don't remember which one, you get a full refund. Anything longer than that and it is pro-rated.
I didn't think it was worth it as we get 3 free oil changes right out the door and oil changes are really all our cars need until 110,000 miles. $1200 out of pocket for future oil changes seemed like a lot of $$$ and bs.
Read the back of the contract and it will tell you how long you have to cancel for a full refund and what it all covers.

oh and be sure to track that refund check if you do cancel! It usually goes back to the dealership and mine cashed it and wasn't going to apply it to my loan until I called about why my loan balance wasn't going down $1200...

Well I'm not finding any paper with fine print about the extended warranty I just was looking back through my paperwork and saw the page with all the charges and saw over $2000 in the column beside extended warranty.

If someone could inform me as to what types of things it covers that would be great. I know I sound like a shmuck and shoulda asked more questions months ago when I bought the car buuut...ha. I dont wanna be paying over 2000 plus interest on my loan for a few more oil changes. After my three free ones I'll be doing it myself.

My tC amazed me. Not a single problem with it in the entire time of ownership, which was two years. Our 2006 530i's water pump broke, our 2007 Element SC had the horn fail and the speedometer needle fall off, and my dad's Ford Expedition, well...

I'd get that money back, for sure. If you're making payments, save it for payments.

That still cracks me up.

I'm going to cancel mine, now that I think about it... since I'm probably going to be voiding most of it, anyway.

hmmm, I got a free extended warrenty. I basically refused to buy the car without getting some kind of hook-up. I have a 6yr, 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warrenty. I wonder if I can refund it, even though I didn't pay for it.

So is the extended warranty i'm assuming different than the factory warranty? Cause if not might just refund it to help fund my turbo... since it'll void basically everything anyway..but i'd have to give that some SERIOUS thought first

my guess is that it covers anything that they made if it messes up. HOWEVER if they can prove that it was our fault.. i.e. turbo, messing with the electrical ( GUILTY!) then it would void it. dont quote me on this just yet, when i have time imma read the fine print and what nots and ill try to get back here with the info

the fine print for mine was on the back of the contract copy I had.

The extended service covers any and all routine repairs- I think even wiper blades were covered. But if you look at the service manual there is nothing major until over 100,000 miles. Every service before that is oil changes and tire rotations. The lady who pushed me into the service contract told me that the "free" 30K, 60K and 90K services and all the oil changes would more than pay for the policy. That was before I read the manual so I believed her. Once I found out there is no major service at every 30k I cancelled that badboy right away.
