Default Power Outlet - in Console - No Power!!

ok.. when I first got the car.. I used the center console plug (in the armrest) for my cell phone.. worked fine.. could plug it in / unplug it no problems. then.. it stops working..

brought it to the dealer.. they said the fuse blew.. and changed it.
as soon as I plug the cord in.. bam.. does it again! and again!

Dealer tells me the key should be off before u plug in!! wtf is that?? that has to be the lamest excuse i have ever heard.. I dont EVER have to turn off the car for the outlet under the radio! and it has never blown...

anyone else with the same problem?

should I just up the amps on the fuse?

Thanks!

possible defective cell phone charger....

try the charger in the front cig outlet and try a different plug in the center outlet

has the center console been removed recently? if so, the wire could be shorting out when everything was put back in.....

other then that, i have no clue

Sounds like something has gotten into the outlet, so that when you plug something in it shorts, blowing the fuse. Either that or something has broken in the outlet causing the same thing. Try another car power adaptor, if it blows the fuse as well, take it back and ask them to check it again and replace the outlet if necessary.

If you can plug it in, then turn on the key without the issue occurring... AND it does it with other devices in the same way, then I would say there is something mechanically wrong with the outlet, as I mentioned above.

Alright , I will give it a shot...
it would be lame if it was really an issue with the outlet, since my buddy is the guy at the dealership who told me the "key off" issue...
thanks!
