Proximity sensor activated cupholder led's...
I am planning on adding my own led's to the cup holders in my 07 tC, and I was reading about the options to turning them on and off. None of them were to my liking, so I thought for a minute, and this seems like the best idea... I would wire them to only activate when the running/head lights were on, and when the proximity sensor is tripped by a bottle or something being placed on top of them. I am unsure if this has been done yet or not, but it seems like the best option for them. If anyone who knows more about electronics than I do would care to lend me some advice on what wires to tap and what prox sensor to get, I'd be eternally grateful.
Feel free to leave some feedback and tell me if this is a good idea or a waste of time...
Thanks.

Not dissing on you here at all because I think it is a really cool idea. But wouldnt you want to be able to see the cupholders when a drink isnt in them so you can see where the drink goes instead of fumbling around before the light comes on or finding the cupholder? My guess would be that you would want the sensor on the top instead of the inside so when you place your bottle or whatever in the general area then it would light up. But then it also might light up by moving your arm to adjust the radio or some type of movement depending on the range of the sensor. Sorry to bring you down just trying to help you think about all the options before you get into and realize its something you didnt want. Good luck man and i hope you do get it and it works out. Keep us updated!

Mine are wired to my cig lighter. Their on all the time. The only downside is that when your backing up or looking at your passanger side mirror it kinna gives off a bad glare. But worth it though
