Does anyone know about which does the police use in Seattle? And California?

I purchased a radar detector after getting two tickets, back to back (February and March) in 2006, since then I have not had a single stop. I'm not saying that any radar detector is fool proof, because lets face it, some departments use different technologies and if a company made a product that would enable us to break the law, i'm pretty sure it would be banned. For me it serves more as a reminder that speeding doesn't result in a good end if you get pulled over.

I got three tickets on 5.... for speeding, one of them was caught for 75mph at a 70 zone... I'm not saying these are not rule breaking, but incidents like this can be easily avoided with these devices. OR better, at least the cops can pull us over and give a warning.....

I have yet to see anyone gotten ticketted for that much speed....

I have own the V940 for almost 2 years. It does have good range. All of the Beltronics Vector model have the same range. The difference is the features. The v940 can be bought for about $149.00 which beats a ticket.
In a radar detector you want to look at which brand as well. Cobra's are not something you want to purchase.
I did recently order me a Escort 9500IX, which should be here on Friday. If you really want to do some research check out www.radardetector.net and google "guys of lidar"

Keep in mind these are not cop detectors, and will only go off when radar is detected. X band goes off as well although that is usually from auto door openers from stores.
