Raining out and i decided to take some pics... help me?
well it was raining outside and i deceided to take some pics, and they looked decent on the camera and when i uploaded them only these 4 were OK enough to save, i took about 20+ and used a tripod for a few of them and just set the camera on some things that were near by... what can i do to make them come out better? im using a Canon Powershot A630, and a Canon Powershot A540
(these pics were on the A630, all my other pics r using the A540)
any help would be GREAT
(i would like to use what i have now and not have to go out and spend alot of $ just to take decent pics)

no hids for me yet, im waiting for the weather to be nice so i can finish my retrofit.
its been raining for about 3 days now... it sucks, and doesnt look like its gonna stop for atleast another 2 days... but we need it, before it started, we were about 2" of rainfall under normal.

Decent pix. I just wish they were closer but not as close as the last pic. That 2nd pic would be the ish if it was closer and angled properly. (Headlight 'trail' looks good.) I do the same thing as you though, I take A LOT of pix and pick out maybe 5-10 that are nice looking.

Exposure problems because of the headlights shining into the lens - you need to select center metering then aim the metering circle on a not too brightly lit part of the car. Tripod and slow shutter speed is a must even with remote shutter to prevent motion - you could also push the exposure control lighter a few F stops to lighten the exposure / decrease the shutter speed. A little fill in flash may help too but keep the shutter speed very slow. Using the LCD view finder to adjust the exposure will really show what the photo will come out like.

if u want something like zis: u need to :
set your camera to M * manual
in the menu : set the long shutter to On
ISO speed 50, maybe 100
NO FLASH
White balance to Tungsten or fluorescent ( see the lcd screen and choose the one whichever u like)
When u press Func, Set button u can set the (Exp) but dont touch it.. if u press menu button here ( only works if the long shutter is on) then u can set the shutter to 1"-15"
turn your headlights off .. leave the parking lights on if u want to and set the shutter to... 1.6 and take a photo.. if its too dark put it 3"2... dark? put it higher.. to bright? lower the number.. etc.. use tripod and 2 or 10 sec delay to prevent the shake while u pressing the button

ahh... this inspired me to take some night pics of my own. Let me know what you think..
NOTE: Those are my modded JLevi headlights with 6K hids. The first picture looks super blue because of the tungsten color adjustment. The others are auto color.
