haha oh man....for a TRD exhaust...
Just go to the TRD website-- its clearly says on the website that:
TRD Sport Mufflers increase horsepower, provide a deep, resonant engine sound and enhance the look of your Toyota, Scion and Lexus. They are emissions-legal in all 50 states and meet aftermarket noise limit requirements.
Its under the Parts Catalog, Exhaust, Exhaust and Mufflers. 4th paragraph down.
http://trdusa.com/partscatalog.cfm
Good luck

i know the pain of idiot cops... a fellow scikotic got pulled over for the same reason. had him open the hood and everything! i think that opening the hood was out of place cause on exhaust alone is not enough probable cause that there are other modifications. the kid has to go to court.. and he is only 16.

OKAY so I went to michaels toyota today and talked to a scion salesman named Jay Masters, and i told him about little delima. he informed me that this ticket is BS. He knows this ticket is BS, because the trd muffler is street legal in all 50 states, IS the factory muffler, prior to being a scion sales consultant, he was an ASE certified technician, AND before that, he was a police officer of 7 years. he told me, that a good point to use was that the officer said "it must be for off road use only" that shows that the officer was not certain if the muffler was too loud or not, the officer also did not take a decibel reading, so its "hear say" just a little update. i think i have gathered enough proof that this is the stock muffler, so it cannot be louder then the stock muffler. im also going to look into my "discovery rights" apparently they say what the charges against me are. so i know what exactly im up against.

My best bet is that they will reduce the ticket to parking or something similar and end up charging you the fine of 124$ unless you want to go to another hearing to fight it - ive been thought situations like this many times before and i end up just paying it, its not worth lawyer fees or coming back to court again,
