Default Is it really worth the extra money for the extra TRD parts?

Hey all, I am going to get my tC in a August once most of the 2006 accessories are available. I am thinking about getting most of the performance parts. (Except the not available supercharger)

In your opinion, would the tC really perform much better with the following accessories?

Exhasut, intake, air filter, struts & shocks, front and rear sway bars.

Quick shifter, and performance clutch?

I am very new to the import scene, my current car is a 01 cavilier. Don't worry, I absolutely hate it!!!

P.S. - Has anyone heard about the Release Series for 2006? I think it would be sweet if it was blue to go with the new Pioneer stereo and Nautical Blue!

Im planning to get the TRD springs (which looks nice on a tC, not too much of a drop) and the TRD strut bar and Hotchkins front/rear sway bar. Lots of people in the Corner Carvers forum say that it helps a lot with the turns as the car won't roll too much.

What are the new accessories for '06?

The TRD springs provide a conservative drop. Just enough, not slammed. I love mine. I don't have the struts/shocks so I don't know if that changes the drop. If you do plan to get the TRD strust/shocks and springs get them all installed at one time. One time charge for labor is better than two. Don't get the accessories from the dealer. They will rape your wallet.
I have pics of my tC with the TRD springs:

I was planning on having all of the accessories placed on the car at the time of purchase to get the full 3 year 36K warranty on them. I was't able to view your pics though.

I have the TRD springs as well. They are very nice, and I did notice a big improvement in cornering. The ride is barely rougher than stock. I am not a fan of slamming a car as it kills both looks and performance IMO. The TRDs are perfect.

As far as the handling is concerned, I have a "test" road I used to determine the difference, so I had a good baseline for testing.

If you have money to burn then have the dealer put them on. The warranty is good on TRD parts regardless.
The pics are there, scroll through the posts. Pics are there plain as day.

Alrighty, I have it figured out.

The springs look much better. Are you going to get different rims?

i like my trd muffler. i don't have the trd springs because i like my trd muffler so much that i don't want to scrape it up, or any other part of my car for that matter. but yes, the muffler is cool.

You did scroll through both of the associated threads to see the pics right?

I don't think the TRD exhaust would scrape with the springs. The TRD springs are the most conservative. There must be a lot of people who are scraping the hell out of their exhausts if this is the case.

i had trd springs on a 03 corolla s, along with the trd exhaust for it and i scraped the exhaust a few times, along with the front when leaving and entering parking lots with dips and stuff. and yes, i drove slow with the fact in mind that it was lower than stock and i still had this occur. and the 03 corolla i think is higher with the trd springs on it than the tc with the trd springs on it (not sure, but it would make sense). yeah, the exhaust was really low because there was no cut out for it, but still, the front was scraping occasionally, even with careful driving. not my idea of fun.

Does anyone out there have 20's on their tC with the springs? I am thinking about getting 20's, but I don't want it to scrape the fenders. I went to a mod shop and the owner said that they could fit the 20's no prob, it would just mean choosing different tires.

20s on a car look horrible. it makes the car look jacked up in the air. it really looks like truck wheels were put on a car.

So if you had the choice, what size rims would be ideal for the TRD springs?

I have 18" on mine, perfect drop with perfect size wheels. 19" might be a bit too close to the fender!

L@@K!

18s are probably the biggest you can go, lowered or not lowered, without having to worry about any problems or it looking ridiculous.

Stock 17s on mine. I think anything more than 18 is excessive.
