Default Remote Starter

Ok, heres the deal. I want an automatic car starter for my car that has a manual transmission. I have been searching all over the internet. I have the scion upgrade alarm and it works fine and its great because its programmed into my stock key. All I want is a remote starter and nothing else with it. Any advice or anyone who has personal experience?

nothing else with it? sorry... but for a remote start on your car.. you're gonna have something else with it... aftermarket remote start = another key fob

hopefully you choose one with all the safety interlocks to prevent you from starting your car in gear.

but from what you seem to ask.. it's not possible.

SquallLheart I understand what your saying but I dont mind having another keyfob. They sell remote car starters only without an alarm, sensors, and all the other crap. I was just trying to see if anyone else on here only bought a car starter without alarm and keyless entry.

Its not hard to do a remote start in a manual, ive done remote starts at a local shop for the past few years, the problem is finding the neutral saftey switch. I havent looked into it yet because im sick of working on cars.. but when i do mine i want to find a way to set up the remote start so that it doesnt start unless the car is in neutral. The system where you use the Ebrake and door to enable starting is a good idea, but not flawless. Basicaly it reminds you and checks that you left your car in neutral. But who feels like doing that. If anyone knows where theres a wire that shows either hot or ground when in neutral let me know. Ill set up a wiring diagram for a remote start.

As for the transponder bypass you can use your valet key, you put it in the box which reads it when the car is being started.

And you dont always need another key fob, you can install the remote start to trigger off of the door locks using a sequence(lock, unlock, lock) to trigger the remote start.

^ my cousin who does audio video installs and such did that for me. i can take a picture of how it's setup. Basically, when my car is in neutral, there is power there allowing the car to start. when the car is in gear, no power is flowing thus not allowing it to remote start...

^ it's kind of like a bypass switch he created. im at work right now so i cant take a picture of my car. It's on the shifter. So like I stated, when the car is in any gear (yes, all 5 gears including reverse) it won't send power to it. but when it's in neutral, allows the power to flow. After work I can take a pic...

I'm pretty sure you can get a remote start with the OEM Key. I remember a topic being posted way way way long ago. I'm talking like early 2007 where some guy did it. I believe he had an after market system or alarm or something that picked up how many times the door unlocked. or locket or something like that. I think if he locked his doors twice his car would start. Let me see if I can dig the topic up.

Sounds like the system i described. One unit is the 9075 made by audiovox, its called an "Add in remote start" which uses your door locks to activate the starter.

you can add most remote starts to factory systems (at least I can vouch for some viper systems) but all it needs is a negative trigger to activate (which so happens our doors are negative trigger neways) Neways the only thing I'm not too sure about is a neutral safety.....I'll have to look around a lil (got a rs on mine and I love it)

well, theres always relays that can change the polarity... if neutral saftey is positive. You can also use the relay to intercept the starter wire similar to the way an alarm would work, not allowing the car to start unless it is in neutral? If anyone knows about the neutral saftey switch wire please let me know!
