I experienced bad wheel hop the other day on wet roads.. I nailed it ALREADY moving at about 15-20mph thinking the car wouldn't have enough torque to spin/hop.. but it DID.
Typically lowering a car will eliminate most wheel hop (always has for me in the past).. so now it's time to order in some springs to fix this.
Wheel hop can snap axles and in extreme cases break the bolts holding your tranny to the engine and really screw up everything in that section. Let off the gas immediately if you start hopping...
My WRX's front wheels would hop badly too.. I remedied it with a anti-lift kit (caster), lowering springs that had a higher spring rate.. Engine mounts won't do much to fix this problem.
