It'd be nice to have a flipout key like the V dubs. This key is a lil too big for my pockets.

The extra space on my 07 key bugs me. I'm assuming it was for a trunk release button like the Camry has.

I don't get worked up over keys either, but I agree with everyone else who thinks the 05/06 key looks better, 10x better!

I like the old key better, but ever since I got my alarm I don't even use the buttons on my key anymore.

Why is that lame? So if you take horrible care of your keys and they get beat up.. the dealer should shell out another chipped key for you for free?

I wasn't saying all out abuse, but under normal usage if the key does stop working (buttons wearing away on the 05/06).. will the dealer give an 07 type key as a replacement?

What I'm saying is two things..
1- will the 07 key work as a replacement for the 05/06?

2- has the dealer replaced anyone's keys under warranty since the 05/06 key wears through?

I don't wanna seem shallow but if the cost isn't too high I'd actually like to replace the 07 keys with the 05/06 ones. Is this possible? We'll see when I get my tC in, it's my first car! Gyeah.

I contacted Scion Corp and they said they havent heard of too many problems with it. I was going to start poll about this issue and try to send it to Scion to see if they can do anything about it! I know for myself Im on my 2nd key and its getting to the point to where you really have to jam the buttons to get it to work properly. What I find sucky is that if your not under warranty then your SOL even though its a problem, that has happened so many times in warranty.

Lol, i would have to agree the older key does look better. I saw seperate alarm fobs in several different colors at my dealer, but i have no idea what they were for or how much it would cost.

Does the add-on security system come with a differnt key? or are they all the same?

I prefer the old look. And I think that they should just make more of the top 'shells' of the 05/06 keys. That way, we could buy a new top peice when they get messed up. I know mine's starting to get warped.

yes, it has the vehicle immobilizer. at the dealership i bought my car from, key + programming (immobilizer and remote function - lock, unlock, panic) would cost around $170

i believe you can use the key without the immobilizer programmed and the remote programmed, but all you will be able to do is unlock the door.
