Default Scion tC After Marker Fog Lights using OEM Wiring set up

I would have put this in the tech DIY section but I do not have access.

I bought a set of fog lights from Auto Zone for $20 a rocker switch for about $3 and a 40 auto relay for about $5 plus a pack of female disconnect terminals for around $2. Then I killed a lot of brain cells trying to figure out how to use the existing OEM Fog Lights wiring that is in the vehicle on cheap aftermarket fog lights and this is what I came up with.

If you follow this diagram, your fog lights will function just like the $150+ OEM Fog Lights. They will turn off by the rocker switch or when ever the daytime running lights are off or when the vehicle power is off.

*****DISCLAIMER*******

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SCREW UP YOUR CAR. THESE ARE JUST THE LAYOUT I FOLLOWED TO MODIFY MY OWN VEHICLE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The Z1 Socket is the single wire connector that supplies power to the fog lights. You will ground the fog lights where ever there is a good ground or to the designated ground spot for the OEM fog lights.

The Z2 Socket is the 7 lead connector that is found in the relay panel under the dash above the OBDII port connector. This will connect to the relay and the switch.

1- Constant Power
2- Accessory Power to Fog lights
3- Switched Power When Vehicle Power is ON
4- Possibly Empty (depending on vehicle year)
5- Ground
6- Ground
7- Switched Power When Vehicle Power is ON

I used #6 as my ground and #7 as my Switched Power When Vehicle Power is ON. Everything works very well.

I bought two sets of the same fog lights for a unique look. My total investment was about $50. Not bad vs spending $150-$200+ for fog lights.

I am running HID headlights but the fog lights are more for illuminating the road closer to the ground for those wet night drives when the ground is ultra reflective and you can't hardly see the lines on the road. The HID lights handle over all illumination and distance but still does not solve the problem of near ground illumination.
