The buttons..i would have to look at the instructions again and I am too lazy.
I think the buttons just have to have the right frequency to work and be programmed, but I could be wrong...

You're right on the immobilizer...
The buttons have to have WAY more then just the right frequency. The software has to put the information in the RF Message the same way as ours. It has to use the same encryption type (and same encryption key to program it correctly) and encrypt the same bytes as ours....

In a nutshell, if Toyota uses the same keyfob protocol across the two models it will work, if they don't then it will not work. The Hyundai buttons will not work with the Toyota ones, it would have to be reprogrammed to copy Toyota's key software.

As far as the immobilizer, yup. If you take apart your key you will see a spot of black filling in the plastic, in there is your immobilizer.

ok, there is no hyndai key that is compatable with the scion key as far as the grooves go. They have one called "hy13" that is close but it needs to be reversed (can't simply be done, have to machine a whole new blank) I have also been tinkering w/electronics and stiuff like that recently so let me see what i can find out.

I bought this switch blade key a few days ago...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWN:IT&ih=025

I ordered it for a 2007 Yaris, which has the same key as us. I'll let you guys know if it fits.

The keyblank itself should slide into the locks and when you have it cut, it will work everything EXEPT it will not start a tC. The one you ordered does not have the chip in it. To get a flip open that works, you will either have to fabricate a body yourself and butcher your old key, or find someone that sells JUST THE COMPUTER part of the key and then find how to program it to YOUR specific car.

Just to clarify...

The Cliff Notes of everything...
1. Transplant everything inside the tC key into a switchblade key (PCB and programmed chip)
2. Rearrange the physical arrangement of buttons on the switchblade or rotating the tC PCB to fit the physical buttons.

..thats all thats required. Unless you WANTED to get fancy and do some rewiring of a PCB..
