Default Scion tC vs Altima 2.5L

I had a 03 Altima prior to the tC couple month ago. I decide to get a new car and a Toyota this time around, also for looks, size and it has 2 doors. The Altima that I had was 4 cylinders with 2.5L and 5 speed manual as well.

I can't really tell which car is faster or has more torque by just driving it. What I know the Altima has 2.5L vs 2.4L engine of the tC but the Altima is some what heavier so this takes in to account.
What I notice that the Scion has closer ration gears then the Altima. The tC handles better the my previous Altima and holds better on curbs or exit ramps on highways.

Question is does any one have a video where both stock cars race each other to see which one is faster? I been searching Youtube but can't find any.

i know our cars wiegh alot for what it is but i know those are pretty heavy too. Plus the sentra se-r had this engine i believ and had 165 at the crank and the spec-v had 175 at the crank plus i think a tC can beat those stock if the drivers are evenly matched.

the sentra spec v has same engine as the altima which is pretty big for a car that size.
good thing it weights a lot for what it is which makes holds good on high way at fast seeds 85mph and up. my car don't shake a bit at 95mph which I tried onnce on 95 NJ Turnpike.

i had an 03 altima as well. 2.5!

i think the tc is a little bit faster.

AdmirN: i dont doubt you, but i think the se-r has a sucky driver. the tc shouldnt keep up with the se-r even if you were running I/E/H, i still think he would smoke you

A Spec V with bolt on's vs. a tc with bolt-ons should go to the spec, because they put down like 20more whp and are lighter BUT i've seen tc's take spec v's before.

My friend owns an 04 spec v with stock wheels/tires, straight pipe from his cat-back 3inch, and an ebay intake. With my mods, he took a ride with me and told me my car seemed faster. At the track his best time was like a 15.4, I beat him by about a car length, slightly more so i'm thinking I might have a 14.9. He starts to catch me but I get the launch probably due to the better tires. If I gutted my car and lost a couple hundred lbs i'd really work him.

As far as the altima... never ran one, but I did have a girl try to pass me in one cause I was going to slow for her (going 40 in a 40) so I dropped to 3rd which wasnt real high rpm and managed to easily stay in front of her.

I'd like to get boosted then race a VQ swap spec. Thatd be a great test.

The spec-v is faster but not by much. They have 15hp more at the crank thats not that much. I dotn know what there torque numbers are. They will take a tC but not by as much as some of these guys think.

Still the scion is the offers the best performance for this price range and it's reliability.
SER cost $21,000 unlike tc cost 17,000.

My buddy has a 91 Cressida and he brags about it, yea it has more hp but I bet I can still beat him from 0-60. Cause his car is heavier, auto and our tc gear ratio is really close unlike the altima's. Where I live there are to many cops so is hard to find place to try it out, we might go to upper Maryland one day.

3.5 is 21k maybe but the se-r is like 26k. also, 270hp vs 160hp? i dont think the tc has a chance against the se-r. now 175hp vs 161hp, the tc could take the 2.5 alty.

actually, the nissan altima 2.5 only weights 3000 pounds, so weight isn't a huge difference. also, hp is 175@6k rpms, and torque is 180@4k rpms.

the tc might be just a hair faster because of the shorter gearing, but then again, since the mpg is almost identical so the gear ratios might be similar.

you will win vs the altima hands down. but you will lose if the altima has the world 3.5 engine, but you don't

3.5L nissan engines are crazy, specially when they are turbocharged. even the nissan quest are dangerous when turbocharged http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GRWh6TVw5g

I should have gotten the 3.5L altima 5 speed. I did get to test driver this at passport nissan Alexandria couple years ago. This car is super fast even at stock. But look how much more it cost and I don't have any where near that budget. Or I will have to get 3 or 4 years old that has lost it's value a lot.

Altima 3.5 are to long for me and it has 4 doors. I know they just came out with the new coupe but back then they didn't. If you really want a sporty look you just had to get the 350z which has the same engine as the altima and maxima as well as the G35.

I heard that Toyota is planning to bring back the supra, not sure it will beat nissan's new skyline GT-R. They have this concept but I forgot the name.

Some pics of my tc https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...699&highlight=

This was my altima that I trade in for the new scion http://s250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t=IMG_0451.jpg
