How many miles have you had the car? 6 months isn't a good measure of wear. I put on 10k miles in 6 months... some people have put on 20k.... etc. Brake wear can also depend on your braking style. Do you brake very hard all the time or no? Check your pads to see how worn they are too.

Also, have you also cleaned your rotors and pads of brake dust? It could have bult up and could be making a lot of that noise.

I have been having the same problem as well. It annoys the crap out of me. I have close to 17K and it started to occur at around 10K. I've had the car for over a year.

mine squeal everytime i hit the brakes. been doing so since 4000 miles. i'm now at 12300. i talked to my dealer about it at my 6000 mile oil change and was told it was normal. when i got upset because no new car should have squeeky brakes, he told me to come back at 12 if it was still doing it and he would take care of it. i would have gotten it fixed this time but i couldn't leave the car. it usually stops if i press the pedal harder and then let off. doesn't come back until i stop again.

like i've been saying.. and krdshrk has added to my idea, i believe it's a glazing of the pads and rotors.. definitely get some sandpaper and rough up the brake surfaces, then break them in again like stoptech was talking about..

Yeah that worked!!! Hells yeah. I got some 14k grit paper, scuffed em up, and beat the $hit out of the brakes. No more squeeks. Now I have another question, when I brake hard and turn at the same time, it sounds like the brakes aren't working. They make this noise like theyre trying to clamp the disc, but they cant because Im turning hard. Is that normal???

It's sorta ironic, because if you brake correctly and safely (riding the brakes all the way to a stop/braking gently), since you have the foresight to drive efficiently and such, this will glaze up the rotors. I hate that such things happen to better drivers lol.

Woohoo for engine braking on a 5spd! ;)
