I modified the stock driver's seat to fit me better, and to provide more lateral support. It involves removing the seat cover, adding foam in some places, removing it in others, tweaking the frame here and there, and putting it all back together again. I haven't written a DIY on it because it is so involved and requires a lot of trial and error for a custom fit. But it can be done.

Trade for a Mercedes, those seats are AMAZING. They even have built in massage functions!

how did you remeved the seat cover?
so if you remeved the foam, it wont look like "soft"
you should write a DIV, and let me know if you do it. i am interesting.thanks

The seat cover is held on mostly by metal rings that hold metal rods (and a couple of thick plastic wires) sewn into the seat cover to the frame. I used zip ties to put the cover back on because they are much easier to use. I only removed foam from an inner surface on the side bolsters so I could pull the bolsters in further.

I'll consider at least posting the pictures I took during the process.

Recommend looking into getting a "luxury" car for comfort.

Yeah these seats rock... I had an '89 240sx before that only had forward/back and back tilt... it had racing seats with crappy support and padding, and the headreast was too low. The tC has nice cloth, tilting, swaying, lowering, lumbar, etc... I dunno how anyone can complain. Sure, some Benzes and even Oldsmobiles have better seats but those cars are made more for comfort.

Default 2006xB front seats OUCH

The front seats seem to be padded with a lumbar support fixed in place.
This usually works great for short people (no offense intended) under 5'8" in height.
I'm 5'8", hubbie's 6', son's 6'4", sister 6', & grandDad is 6'3".
Only grand mom at 5'4" finds the seats comfortable: she says it fits her back the way an inflated lumbar support seat does.
The tall members of the family ALL deflate the lumbar supports in vehicles that provide them.
I will gladly pay to have seats changed- any suggestions of what to do or how to go about it?
I did inform Toyota of the problem on the new owners' survey: mine's a 2006 xB Polar White.
Thanks for any response or suggestions other than RACING SEATS.

Love the tC seats!
I do though think that they are better since I upgraded them to leather.
I'm 6'-4", 240 and they are really sweet, IMHO.
I only wish that they came with the (option) of heat/cooling. Lots of my friend's cars have that and it's a sweet luxury!

I liked to stock seats as well.... changed them out for sport seats, but they were much better than many of my other car's seat setups.... the only more comfortable seats were in my GLX passat... but you'd slide around in them like crazy
