IIRC, the car was designed to specifically allow you to put a bike in the hatch. That's another reason the carpet is dark, to hide any grease marks from someone who does this in an "active" lifestyle.

I do think it's a nice addition, as I've been thinking of buying a mountain bike again.

The best part about this car is that you can begin to costumize it the way you like it from the second you step into the showroom. I remember walking in there for the first time and seeing the pedal covers, the optional steering wheels, the picture of the interior leds, the battery clamps....I could go on. I just couldn't help but begin to form a picture in my head of what I wanted to do with this car. Now all I need is the money to make that picture a reality.

took another short test-drive yesterday. just around the parking lot of the dealership - gotta get used to manual, been a while... kept stalling out on a small hill in the back of the lot. once i got the hang of it, though... no problem. but it WAS rush hour, so i decided not to go out onto the road (any raleigh people know what leaving the fred anderson dealership is like - right onto 70 during rush hour with an unfamiliar clutch? i don't think so...)

still haven't had the opportunity to really open her up... i want to feel what kind of acceleration she has compared to the caprice, then i'll know for sure.

i did, however notice the texture of the dash/top part of the door panels. nice, really nice.

i'm thinking of going with the amber floor/cupholder lighting, and the whole package sound system upgrade: door speakers, 100 watt amp, and the bazooka... is it worth it?

I, as well as everyone who rides in it love the light kit for under dash and the cupholders. I have the blue ones and they look awesome. Then just add the blue gauge conversion and it is perfect!

and as far as V8s having to put out 380.... tell me how many stock ones you find doing those types of numbers besides the vette and GTO and some hemi setups. Around 300 is the typical number (but definitely still above many) for a V8 stock. The difference is the torque, they have tons more than most 4 bangers putting out 300 HP.

i do like the color blue, but i'm going to get the NB, so i don't know if i should do blue inside. plus i don't like the idea of carving up my first ever brand new car, especially since the lights aren't just plug bulbs. i think the amber dash and under lighting would look hot with the NB...

it doesn't make sense to me that they put out a blue under-dash light kit but don't go all the way and let you pick ALL lights. but whatever. pretty sure i'll go with the amber.

as for the sound system upgrade, is the quality of the components good for the price? the price on the "build your own" site is like, $850 or so for all three sound upgrades...

in addition to all of the things listed above, i just love the attention you get while driving a tC. half the people out there are still trying to figure out what kind of car it is. when they hear scion, theyre still not sure. scion? whats a scion? ive had my car for a year already and i still have that giddy lil feeling inside everytime i drive it around. the feeling i had when i first drove it off the lot! at stoplights, i cant help but boast that im usually the center of attention. i work 5 days a week at a video rental store, and i always park in the same spot. up until this day, i still have customers that come in and ask about 'the nice black car outside'. it usually sparks a nice conversation.

i bought the car because of the features/specs/price. i never would have imagined getting this much attention for so long. my co worker bought an infiniti g35 the same week i bought my tC. on paper, his g35 blows our tCs out of the water. it should, it costs twice as much. but when it comes to the priceless compliments, stares, questions, and overall feedback.. we both agree that my tC owns!

just put my order in today... nautical blue, amber accent lights, with the full sound upgrade - door speakers, amp and sub. that's it for add-ons.

the only thing i'm thinking of swapping out is the head unit. i finally caved in and got a cell phone, a motorola v260, and want to get a head unit that can link up with it through a bluetooth adapter, so i can talk on the phone through the speakers/mic. my friend has this in his wrx and it's awesome.

anyone know of a H/U that does this? and can work with the steering wheel buttons?

My dealer told me the blue accent lights looked better, but I wanted amber from the start. (I'm also getting the nautical blue paint job.) I ended up choosing blue, but I think I should go with amber instead...

Does anyone have any opinions on how the accent lights go with the lights on all the meters?

Don't get anymore 'options' through the dealer! They overcharge you big time! I get my 'options' through trdsparks.com. Ken will hook you up niiiice!! If you know how a screwdriver works and can turn a wrench, you can most certainly do all your mods yourself! I myself am not car-savy, but there's a good feeling you get when you do your own mods. Trust me; I do not think you will regret getting a tC!! Congrats!

yeah, at the same time, it's better for me to finance the options than to buy them outright and install them myself later... i've worked on my caprice enough to know that i don't have the time right now to DIY anyway... and not just mods - straight up serious repairs - changed out the radiator, tapped a bolt for the thermostat that the head sheared off of, odds and ends that came loose, fell off or otherwise failed...

then again i did mods on it when i could - cold air intake, air baffle deletes, took off all the police stickers, sanded off the roof number... it was a police car, after all...

the only mod i've planned is the different H/U to get my phone routed via bluetooth through the car speakers. other than that, i'm going to enjoy having a new car.

then again, whenver that trd supercharger comes out...

I've owned my 06 for two weeks and a day and about 350 miles, and here's what I like:

The roof. Glass roof front and back is very cool for me, I have yet to drive somewhere without my windows down and the sunroof open (weather permitting). I also like the ride of the car: a very refined compromise between quick handling and a ride that won't kill your ****. You'll feel the bumpiness, but I like that road feel, and it's far from unbearable. The radio cover is also a very slick piece. It's simple, but it really gives the interior a clean look when the Pioneer is hidden. And while I'm no expert (at all) on systems or audio stuff, I like the sound the tC delivers stock (just make sure you have the SSP set to "feel"). If it's any reference, it's way better than my brother's RSX (stock radio) is. The wheels are also a quality piece, the coloring really accents the NBM I own. Another trick piece is the hatch latch: it's not an actual lever, but a sort of (it's hard to explain) big button that you push up to pop the hatch. It just seems very upscale for the price of the car.

Engine-wise, it pulls quickly in the low RPMs and the whistle sound it produces is pretty trick. Sometimes I have to turn off the stereo just for the sake of listening to it. I can't really tell you how anything past 4000 RPMs feels, since I'm still breaking in the car.

Only thing I'm not crazy about on the car is the brakes. The feel is pretty off-balance in my opinion; as you push you get weak, weak, weak,STRONG. I always feel like I'm slamming on the brakes just to get it to a stop in time. However, this just requires a little getting used to and better judgement of stopping distance. When the time comes that you're forced to stop that thing fast, you can confidently get pressure on the pedal and make a quick, controlled stop.

Hope we sold you.

i really like the way the tC looks, and the features and such. i'm seriously considering buying this car. but i want to know what you LOVE about this car. not just the generic "i like it" comments.

give me the subtle nuances that make this the car for you. maybe stuff you didn't even know about when you bought it. what can't you live without now that you've had it in your car? what makes you excited just to drive it?

SELL ME!!!

DISCLAIMER: before anyone says "use the search, n00b" i searched for "subtle nuances" and came up with jack. i'm not going to search through every post on the forum for the gems... post them all here, so there's one place to look from now on...

I forgot one of the coolest deals of all: the little light on the temperature dial changes from blue to amber to red as you go from cold to hot, and vice versa.
