Haha, to each his own i guess. I actually got these before VRD's came out and it took a long time to figure out how to install them. I also like how its flush with the bumper.
I'm actually running federals.. Not the best tires out there, but i'm not made of cash and they get the job done. They also give a nice stretched look.
i don't remember cutting off any bump stops when i did it. I did check it recently though and everything is still going fine.
