Ok, now heres the FACTS:

I traded the tC in to get an 08 SI. MUCH MUCH NICER. Heres why:

SI: 6 Speed
tC: 5 Speed

SI: LSD Stock
tC: optional add on $$$

SI: Much nicer interior
tC: Blah

SI: More potential
tC: Have fun finding parts

To whomever said the SI runs a 15.6 is full of it. MOST Si driver get them between 14.0 - 15.0 STOCK. I got a 14.8 STOCK. tC cant even break 15.3 stock.

PROOF:

The suspension on the Si is WAY better from the factory. You actually get nice bucket /race style seating. The arm rest is adjustable. The cars lighter, the cars more fun to drive.

The tC, falls on its face in 3rd gear. and isnt fun after a while. I know, ive gone the all motor route AND turbo route with the tC.

Go test drive both. You WILL NOT be signing with scion. To whomever said the SI was 5k over that of a tC, is WRONG aswell.

tC: MSRP:: 17,620
Si: MSRP:: 21,110

Differance? $3,490

Add in that price for an LSD + Installation = another 1600 in cost for the tC, minimum.

Turbo a tC and kill an SI? no poop. HOWEVER, Turbo SI> Turbo tC > S/C Si > S/C tC.

Insurance was only 22 doallars mroe than the tC, so no bank breaker there either.

Get whatever makes you happy. Test drive a Si and a tC, look at the features, think about what mods (if any) you want, and buy based on those comparisons.

I could have bought a Civic Si or Cobalt SS, but when I bought my tC, it wasn't all about horsepower (and it's still not for me), I needed a hatchback that was fun to drive and got good gas mileage on 87 gas; the Si and SS don't meet those requirements, so my choice was easy.

^ Not ment at attacking you anyway, but

I love how people complain about the premium full cost, but the majority of people that make that excuse, either race there car, or turbo there car, so they use 93 anyhow, and get less MPG than the si. the SI does have better gas mileage BTW, so what, i dont mind paying the extra .20 per gallon, which is usually 2 bucks.

the Si is a better car spec wise..
but i hated the way the Si looked and the lack of the low end power while driving around town. the handling on the tc was my main gripe when i test drove it however the tC handles really really good with the optional TRD struts and springs.. id say it handles pretty close to the Si now.

the Si has one thing i completely love, the shifter and clutch.. it feels like butter rowing threw gears... its like the thing was made by god himself

I don't complete agree with your statement...

1. How does a turbo tC with 300whp lose its fun?? The gears are short so every gear should pull real nice when boosted

2. When you do s/c or turbo the SI, it may have more hp potential but wheres the torque at?!?

3. Your prices are a little skewed...
I bought my tC for 17,260
add in my hotchkis springs and sways: +$430
Doc I's STS = sex = +$150
$17,840 vs. $21,110

and whatever is left I could do to customize the car... I think in the end you get more from your tC because it is customized and unique since you put the money you would have spent on the si into the car to make it your own... just my .02....

Why not go with the Mazdaspeed 3? It's only $1,000 more and you go from 139 @ 6000 RPM to 280 @ 3000 RPM ft lbs of torque. has a 6 speed manual, mileage drops from 29 to 26 but ah well. 6-speed and HID are stock as well, not sure why everyone always sleeps on it.

probably because of the stigma of a station wagon. sure it\'s fast... but most young men don\'t want a chick to look at them and say, \"eeew, look at that pervert soccer dad trying to pick up on me.\"

See my other post, there is a huge difference between a 5door hatch and a wagon. This is not a wagon:

If you need a car to get a girl, I feel bad for you. The 5door is a viable and much used sport compact platform, used various years by Honda on the Si, VW on the GTI, and even Suburu and Ford for their rally vehicles. For picking up women, you can also fit her and three of her fine friends comfortably, don't know many girls who want to climb in or out of the back seat of a coupe with a miniskirt on.

Gotta step up your game and refine your tastes a bit. Just trying to spread some knowledge to those who can understand it.

my thoughts exactly. if I were car shopping right now (can't, told the wife I'd get 5 years out of the tC before trading it/selling it for something else) the Mazdaspeed3 would be head and shoulders above anything else on the list. subtle looks/styling, goes like poop, and more interior room than my tC (which I ). the GTI might be a LOOONG way down on my list, but the anemic Si probably wouldn't even crack the top 5.

Dude has two threads . Pick one thread. lol Lock this one or something

Solid times that are identical to the numbers we ran in the Civic Si. With a limited-slip splitting up the torque, there's no doubt that the tC would be quicker, but as of right now, Scion doesn't offer one.
Scion has the LSD now.
you want the link
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpconta...6/pageNumber=1

The SI has high compression piston from what I heard and you can't run much boost with out swapping them out.
The mazdaspeed3 is cool but I dont like four door cars. lol I like the 1 series coupe.

Doesn't this dude has another threads with the same topic?

\"See my other post, there is a huge difference between a 5door hatch and a wagon. This is not a wagon: \"

They both have 4 doors, a hood, 4 wheels and a rear hatch. Calling it something different doesn\'t make it different.

Like I said, the Mazdaspeed3 is a nice station wagon. I would not mind one when I need the extra room for a child and the luggage space.

You sure can view your opinions but money talks, and alot of talking money is doing is that tCs are outselling Mazda 3s 5 to 1.

Mazda should not have made a sporty sedan or station wagon and see if the young and hip might buy them. It didn\'t work for the Matrix. Not too many WRX were sold in station wagon form.

The xA and xB sold well because they didn\'t look like anything younger people\'s parents would drive.
