Default Smelly air when form ac when turned on (tC owners)

Have you guys had any smelly (almost bathroom smell) air coming out of your vents when ac is on esp. on a hot day?..I'm just curious. Thanks!

Lol it is frustrating. I get it occasionally down here in Texas. I think it may be that condensation is created on humid days, then it sits and turns to a moldy smell?
I may try to buy a Toyota In-Cabin air filter this year (if such part exists.)

prob mold build up if you arent turning the ac off before you turn the car off, i always turn my ac off and then heater on for a couple seconds so that i get all the moisture out and no room for error, could be wrong but my car smells new still and i got in october

I only get that smell if the air has been running for a while and then i turn the ac off but leave the fan going. Its a stinky stale type of smell. I do have the air filter and I change it monthly because California air is terrible and its a dark grey by the time a month has past.

haven't had this prob with my tC yet, but with my other cars parked under trees and stuff the pollen and filth and mayflies wash down under the wipers to the space below the cowling and lays there and turns moldy. when the a/c is turned on, it draws the air right over that mess.

I only get that smell only when i have the FAN running but once I change it to A/C the smell seems to go away after a while and i get fresh cool air =]

Make sure you its cranked all the way to the left and the A/C Button is Lite

I used to have a Siamese cat that ____ed everywhere. It smells like male cat urine. Its horrible and sometimes stronger than usual. but like capitolatchet said, you always need to turn off your ac before turning your car off.

i thought all cars do that?
if you really dont like the smell then get a benz. they have carbon filters and air ionizer.

I just had the cabin air filter replaced with tha 15000 mile service although i think they did it cause the car is now 3 years old... I cant say if this would fix the problem tho but its a possibility. I never smelled any funny smells. my friend had a jeep that people would smoke in all the time and he would spray this special spray into his cabin vents, and it would kill any and all smells. its a special product thats more "healthcare" than "automotive".
