Default Smoke Tailight Problem

Well.. this is what happenend. I'm on my way home from work around 3 in the afternoon and a cop decides to stop me right around the corner from my house. He walks up to the car and gives me the usual, license, registration and proof of insurance and you know why I stopped you. So he then tells me that my smoke tail lights are illegal. I have the overlay kit that I had odered from ebay for a while now. I told him that it was just a film that goes over the light and it can be removed. So he told me if I can take them off right now he won't give me a ticket. It broke my heart to peel them off plus I ended up scratching them bad because I took them off with my key, and he let me go. So no more smoke tails for me

title states "smoke tailight problem"...

This isn't a "problem" because the solution has already been rendered by the police.

When i was pulled over for street racing the cops approached my car fairly calm and proceeded to pick my car apart on stuff that was illegal, needless to say they did not cite me for any illegal modifications I.e smoked tailights, exhaust, window tint....

yeah, but when you misqoute something or leave parts out it doesn't sound kosher. actual verbage states (for Florida):

My mistake. I must have read something wrong. What I was trying to do was get people a resource so they could research and be able to defend themselves when they get in those situations. Sorry if i confused anyone.

I wonder if that same cop might soon stop an '08 tC and attempt to ticket them for the same thing? Then what will the cop do when he finds out they're stock, after not believing the owner, whom I'm sure informed him of such at the time?

So reading what the law states, the cop may or may not have viewed it that way, he might just go after any tinted tails and assume they're illegal even if they're legit. Oh well, I guess there must not be much serious crime in that area, considering they have time to ticket peeps for tinted tails.

Its good to have the information, aka the law to quote, but do you really think that will stop you from getting a ticket? I think its more of a slap in the face to a cop, cause ur telling them there wrong, so im sure how they would react....but i doubt it would to alot of good.
