Doing 70 in a 50, cop told me to plea not guilty and he will reduce it and talk to me or something since it was my first ticket. How do these usually go in the courtroom or something like that cause I never been there before

My first speeding ticket I went to court and plead "No Lo" which basically means you aren't admitting you did it, but you're not saying you didn't. Its basically a way to just pay the ticket and not have any points added to your license. Your insurance still does go up.

I'm not too sure what the cop is planning, if he wants you to plea not guilty, it woulda just been easier for him to rip up the ticket or write it in that you were going slower than you actually were...

you live in ny? who pulled you over not a state cop right cause you cant bargain with them anymore

if its a town cop go up to him in court when it a good time and say sorry and all that jazz and ask him what he can do. your not gonna get out of the fine. but if hes nice you wont get point... or youll get less point. cause i think 20 over is 6 points

not guilty and then what what are you going to tell the judge " well the officer told me to plea not guilty" the judge might laugh at you i would think about it cause when you signed the ticket means you are guilty of speeding so i say fight it with a good excuse cause you telling that to the judge you will need a legitament excuse good luck

Here in NH you loose your license for something like that if your under 21 but older than 18.

well i already got what i want to say planned but the cop wasnt a trooper it was a sheriff over near cold spring ny. he told me i have a perfect driving record and the best thing for me to do was to plead not guilty and talk with him at court to get it reduced. he said that he had to give me a ticket because they were detailing the area whatever that means. my first speeding ticket but what happened was the single lane turned into 2 lanes, i went to go pass the slower car and as i was passing him he sped up so i sped up and right around the bend the cop came. im just gonna tell them im sorry that it happened and wasnt planning on speeding or anything which i wasnt at the time being until that point. i dont know, its on june 4th so we will see how it turns out. and what sucks is i cant get points off my license cause i have a CDL and I know there are fewer points on that type of license

Wrong. Signing the ticket does not mean you are saying you are guilty, it simply means you were issued the ticket. the cops say that everytime you get a ticket.

detailing the area means they were trying to meet quota on their monthly required speeding tickets. That is a horrible system. Anyways yes signing the ticket does not admit guilt it admits that what is written on the ticket is what the cop told you you were pulled over for. You are better off pleading guilty because fighting it wont do anything. I've had 2 speeding tickets a year ago and both were 15 over and one 20 over and my rates still have not gone up on car insurance *knock on wood*

signing a ticket is not an admission of guilt. It's just a written promise to appear in court or pay the ticket as well as saying that you received a copy of the citation.

talk to the cop before the court starts. because once the court starts, it's the judge's case then.

always fight every ticket.. ALWAYS. Most of the time you can get the points to ZERO or one (at the worst). All they really want is your money!! People might defend this but it's true.

So always fight every ticket, and the officer will talk to you before the judge hears the case. You'll be laughing afterwards that you paid money and no points. You'll see they just want your $$$$

I dont know about the above post. I had 2 friends each get pulled over in the state of NY on the same road within a couple days of each other. One was doing 81 in a 65 and the other was doing 83. The guy doing 81 fought the ticket in court and ended up paying about 100 dollars more than the other guy and both still got points.

I think it's hit or miss it'll depend on the judge. Remember you are driving a car that has that "OMG HE'S OBVIOUSLY A YOUNG DUMB STREET RACER" look too it just like mine. So it'll depend on the judge. Good luck with whatever your path.
