OH and i know for sure i was not speeding becuase i learned my lesson when i got caught by a bike popo. Also, my friend said that there is no set standard for the time the yellow has to be on? so maybe ill use that fact too. Ill get back to this if i ever get the ticket and if i do end up fighting it.

Heres a link to our baltimore news where they did the test about redlight cams:
http://www.thewbalchannel.com/news/2827865/detail.html
1/3 of the tickets issued is because the yellow lights turned to quick at 2.9 seconds since state law is set at between 3-6seconds for yellow lights.

Heres another article from the city paper about it:

You can still go to Traffic School even if its been less than 18 months. You have to appear before a judge and ask permission though.

uh not fair? clearly you were going too fast or not paying attention to run the light.

just go to court, most of the time there is nobody to present the case, so u will walk out of it. at least here in Chicagass %95 of the cases have nobody to be presented by, but the catch is that people just pay the fines and thats what city of Chicagass wants.

If beverly hills is apart of LA conuty then you dont have to worry about it, their is no film in the cameras and none of the cameras actually work in LA county. .

heard that on the news about a month ago

FYI: Yellow light means "Stop if it is safe to do so."

Tickets usually arrive in 30 days. If you got caught by a West Hollywood camera on the border of Bev Hills, there's a good chance you'll never get one.

This is a good site. Here's another good one:

http://www.highwayrobbery.net

I received a ticket from one of the cameras before... I plead guilty and it set me back about $300 - 400... I didnt' fight it cuz my dad received the ticket because the car was registered to him. I recently received another one except I WASN'T THE DRIVER (someone else was using the car which is registered to me). This time I am going to fight it, especially since I broke no laws. I HATE those stupid cameras, I will do anything to NOT FEED THE SYSTEM. And of course I'm not going to rat out the person who was actually driving my car at the time...

I'm just waiting for the day they introduce the "speed" camera to give out more tickets and make more money....

GOOD LUCK FIGHTING THE SYSTEM, I HOPE YOU WIN

Default New guy's input...

Hey everyone...new kid on this block...just bought my RS2 about 2 weeks ago and love it, but I had to jump on this topic.

I hate to admit it to some people, normally because of the response I get when I say it, but I am a cop. I enjoy it very much, but then again I don't go out to mess with people just because I am one. I have a job to do...and do it when I need to. Nonetheless...on to your ticket issue.

In most states...I know for a fact CA and SC...the law says it is illegal to enter the intersection on a red light. SC law, and CA is close to the same, actually specifies what each light means:

(a) Green indication:

1. Vehicular traffic facing a circular green signal may proceed straight through or turn right or left unless a sign at such place prohibits either such turn. But vehicular traffic, including vehicles turning right or left, shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles and to pedestrians lawfully within the intersection or an adjacent crosswalk at the time such signal is exhibited.

(b) Steady yellow indication:

1. Vehicular traffic facing a steady circular yellow or yellow arrow signal is thereby warned that the related green movement is being terminated or that a red indication will be exhibited immediately thereafter.

(c) Steady red indication:

1. Vehicular traffic facing a steady circular red signal alone shall stop at a clearly marked stop line but, if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection and shall remain standing until an indication to proceed is shown.

It is not illegal to be in the intersection while the light is red...if you were already entering it when it was yellow. It is illegal to enter the intersection on red. Depending on where you were when the red light came on and the picture got you will directly influence your guilty verdict. I'd go and at least see the evidence they have against you. If you were in the intersection already, explain that to the judge...you might have a chance.

Sry for the long post.

This is why in some countries the yellow will start to flash before it turns red.

... well.. ermm... that's all I gotta say? Most the lights are based off weight censors... if you see no one ahead... and lots of people to the left and right, you're most likely going to hit a yellow. On another note, do yourself a favor and let off the gas and not speed towards a red then stop... it's plain and simple, you just save more gas that way... I see way too many (shall we say) 'ambitious' tC drivers on the road (I personally call them douche bags), swerving through the lanes, speeding...cutting me off... only to hit a red light. Speeding: you save a couple seconds (at most), put others and yourself in danger, waste gas, wear breaks.
That reminds me of last Friday when I was drivin on the freeway on my way to a party and this guy in a Frontier cut into the carpool lane with no one else with him inside the car and then he starts honkin @ me and then I decided, forget this so I start drivin slow, and then he cuts over the left shoulder to get in front of me then I honked back @ him then he starting honkin @ the person that was in front of him, then he got out of the carpool lane and started cutting everybody off and honkin @ all the slow people. I was like that dude has problems!! But I think you should just take traffic school. Yeah those cameras suck! I have seen plenty of people get caught by those.

Please tell me that you don't like the cameras...I actually started disliking the police to an extreme degree after I got my ticket. (especially since there is a chance i will be wrongfully convicted on my second ticket and "railroaded" so that the police and courts can ensure that they have lifelong employment and good paying jobs)

What ____ed me off about my first ticket was the fact that the company which supplied the cameras to the city received payment FOR EACH TICKET ISSUED. Now if that isn't a conflict of interest, I don't know what is.

And how there is no jury... The government gives you the ticket. The government decides if you are guilty. Then the government takes your money after they decide to convict you . What country is this again? Red China? Cuba? No... the good ol USA....

No I don't like the cameras. If I'm not mistaken, the cameras have nothing to do with most police departments. They are put up and funded by the city or municipality that they are in. Personally, I think it is a lazy way of doing business. They are a nice way to deter people running lights in problem intersections, but lazy nonetheless. I guess you could compare it to the computers replacing people debate. The cameras take away the "human element." I prefer the "old way" of a person actually watching you do something wrong and doing something about it. For a computer there is no "gray" area...all black and white. And there are circumstances to be considered in everything, thus creating the "gray" area that we cops can operate in...sometimes to the benefit of the violator...sometimes to the benefit of the officer.

Have any of you tried those photo blocker things? There's a spray and a film you put over your license plate that supposedly makes them overexpose when hit with a flash, but still let's them be readable with the naked eye.

They need to have gotten a clear picture of you driving the car and a clear picture of you plates. You won't get a ticket if they didn't get a clear shot of the person driving. If you do get the ticket I would say go to court and request the traffic school. I never saw the judge say no to taking the traffic school. Online schools are easy and fast. Good luck.
