Default so i was thinkin about making...

a front splitter with other pieces that cover the whole bottom of the car (minus the exhaust and jack points). i know the new GTR has them for downforce, was wondering if there would be a difference. like 1/2" plexiglass.

sounds like just a bunch of unneccessary weight. those kind of aerodynamics don't matter to the tc because it can't go fast enough for it have any effect.

the gt-r goes 193 mph, the tc tops out at 127 mph, or at 135 if you take off the speed limitor.

You'd be better off with thin aluminum, like 40-thousandths. No plastic will like the heat of the exhaust. It will also need to have louvers to let hot air out, and drain holes for... uh, draining. Even if you don't do the whole underpan, the rear section could really use some aero treatment-- even at our relatively slow speeds.

How does one "take off the speed limiter"???

BTW, downforce improvements can be beneficial as low as 80-90 MPH... cars with aerodynamic aids such as spoilers can give the vehicle more stability at tha speed.

If the splitter and underbody panels were constructed correctly, it would only be a marginal addition in weight, nothing that a few more horses can't overcome...

This idea sounds very good... perhaps some beads ran through the larger parts can add stiffness to the panels...

Although it would be considerably be MORE expensive, ... would carbon fiber hold up to the heat that you mentioned?

Yes. But you're looking at probably 2 grand in CF for that, unless you laid the sheets yourself.

there are ways to remove or diable it, like with emanage, it is an electronic limitor, so it can always be disabled.

but it just sounds unnecessary. i've driven my car literally thousands of miles at 80-110 mph for the past couple years (i used to commute twice a week accross half the state on the interstate in the very early morning) and the car is perfectly fine going those speeds, both when it was stock, and then much better when it was lowered, both in dry and wet weather (btw, the windshield wipers start skipping accross the windshield once you get over 90 mph in the rain)

the drag coefficient is only .32 right? it isn't that aerodynamically challenged.

OK. As I said, i was just THINKING about it. I didn't wanna go make it before i got some feedback from fellow SL'ers. Maybe I'll make a front splitter for my TRD front lip and a piece for the back? I was thinking about using aluminum but I didn't want it bending at higher speeds.

if anyone can tell me since people are talking about aerodynamics i have seen alot of hondas nowadays started to get diffuser bumpers, now my friend with a 98 civic lx & me have gone a couple of rounds to see who is better & a win is usually in my favor & he wants to have a go again after putting that & an exhuast, i m curious how much thats gonna affect the outcome.

Well I was just gonna spray it with a rubberized coating for texture and a slight bit more duability. anyone wanna give me some ideas on how i can improve this idea? or just scrap the idea?

I think he's talking about something like that but under the whole undercarriage. I don't think it's necessary but it would definitely be cool.

Yeah. But I mean not at any point under the carriage that gets hot or moves.

whole car? dude you crazy!! :D

i wanted to do the diffuser like the evo... its gonna be expensive to do it in CF because it'll be all custom..

idk i think its a great idea (specially cuz i;m in love with cf to begin with) lol if you cant do the whole undercarriage, doing splitter and diffuser would be cool too!

dont worry about exhaust getting hot cuz if you do Cf, it can take very hot temp.

well i was gonna make a prototype of acrylic plexiglass with a rubberized coating. then maybe look into other things. i don't wanna buy a whole bunch of cf then find out I can't do it.
