So I wrote a letter to Toyota...
#21
FYI, I am a girl.
What started it the idea was; when I was at the Chicago New Demension event. I noticed there were some regional Toyota employees from Aurora, Illinois office. So I went up to one of them and told him about the mileage. He looked at me stunned. I then said "I was thinking about writing a letter to headquarters when the recalls happened. Keep the head up because there's still many customers like me..." He told me "You should still do it!" But I never had a good chance to sit down and think what to write.
I framed a copy and placed it in the engine bay during Exposed Indy. Saw how many people actually stopped to read it. Then I mailed it out with nice picture of the car.
Three weeks later, they called me @ 8pm. Wasn't home so they left a message.
As of 5 am today-
Of course, I won this with a breeze during Exposed. "Most High Mileage"
Here's the scary (crazy scary) thing about this car
I'm just surpised they decided to call me back and not a short "Oh thanks for being a customer" post card.
This is a 2007 that was bought back in November 2006 with 46 miles on the odometer. Car averages 4,233 miles a month. Which means this car could of easily been driven around the world 7 times. Never had major problem with it except for the usual "wear & tear." These miles aren't highway; maybe 65%. For gas remark, I figured something on the lines of $5k when I decided to figure it out when I hit the 100k mark.
I love it when people @ work talk "stuff" about Toyota. I usually stick this at them "Ask me how many times have I seen Toyota tech & how many miles I have again???" That usually shuts them up.

Im shocked you actually wrote it.
I mean no one really writes letters so the one person in the company that is in charge of reading letters that come in the mail probably called to tell you the email address or thank you for saving their job.

anyone see the toyota commercials where they have a few people saying their car and how many miles are on it. dont remember the model but one dude had an older red coupe (celica or somethin maybe) with over 400k on original motor and tranny!

How convenient this post happens at the same time Toyota is having a marketing campaign about how many miles their cars have? hmm.. what are the odds of that happening at the same time?
and this posting happens on a board that IS monitored by Toyota/scion.

You think I photoshopped & is lying about all of this???? Just so I can get 15 minutes of fame????
LMAO!!!! I'm not that type of person.
I'm a nightshifter who works really odd hours at a very boring & stressful job. I originally had a xA and trade it in for my tC within six months. So when I realized I was making double at the time before buying the xA; knew I was stuck working this boring job. To add some type of excitement; I went to buy this tC. Of course enjoying this brand new tC; I was racking few hundred miles within the first few weeks. I was communiting 45 miles a day from Nov '06 to June '08 then started a 84 mile commute all the way until April '10. If I figured correctly, thats 70k just going to & from work.
Now, what really rack the miles: Recreational driving.
I had few personal problems that driving to where the hell I want helped me get through all of it. Collection agencies can't harrass you when you have the stereo blasting & the cell off when you're in the middle of Chicago.
To tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting anything back from TMC. I'm just a loyal customer who got sick tuning in the news channels and get sick hearing all the recall crap everyday while driving a high mileage and dependable Toyota product. Felt the company should get some type of positive feedback during that time. But of course, my job started to get way too busy with my employers 1,000,000 sqft warehouse & 500,000 sqft corporate home relocation; didn't have time to do it. Having regional Toyota employee telling me to do it; encouraged me.

Same here except i'm about 5.3 years with the car and on the same stock Panasonic battery. It's held up incredibly well in the NY winters and has never failed to crank over.

You're and Idiot!

Now think about how surprising it is that someone actually gave them good feedback and then understand why most consumer reports are statistically crap ;) People tend to review more when something is wrong.
My 05 has 83,000 on it (bought it brand new in 04), 4 seasons of autox including the test n tunes (about 500 runs I would guess) and runs like it did on day one. No rattles, no issues .. and yes, same battery, even in MN. I can upset owners of much more expensive cars on the autox course, still works well as a daily driver, even with the suspension mods and people still compliment it. Not to mention that even though they didnt change much of anything on it, it has still been relatively recent that comparatively priced vehicles could match the features and performance of it. So I cant complain about it at all.

Most local Scion owners usually say this-
"When did you change your brakes? How much did it cost you @ your dealer?"
"When did you change your coolant?"
The most common-
"How well is it holding up?"
Everytime I'm at the dealer-
"So what are you up to now?"
When I'm driving by my dealer and see new Toyotas going on a test drive. I usually see the salesperson pointing at the tC & probably bragging saying its high mileage and was sold by them.
I'm already planning on buying pizza for the sales department once I roll over 200k mark. For "Thanks for not selling me a lemon." LOL

thanks AAG my thoughts, exactly.
I find it odd I get attacked because I point out the OBVIOUS timing of such a post when Toyota/Scion does viral marketing campaigns online. The timing of this post is what I'm talking about. Not that someone can't make 200k miles with a Toyota. The fact that this is being brought up at the same time is quite interesting. I smell "commercial here" and yes again 200k is possible with a Toyota and most modern cars as well.
so people, think outside the box at the "coincidence" that this is posted now.
and I like that the OP attacked me? I never said it was a lie, again, read slowly.. HOW INTERESTING IT IS THAT THIS IS POSTED EXACTLY AT THE SAME TIME TOYOTA HAS A MARKETING CAMPAIGN ABOUT THE RELIABILITY OF THEIR VEHICLES.. read slowly now.. good now you have my point.
Say hi to toyota's marketing dept for me
