so im thinking about trading the tC for the new altima coupe
#22
idk if it just me, but the Altima coupe looks like last gen G that Nissan doesn't want to go away. Can't mess with success, right? The sheet metal maybe new but it looks like Nissan just put on a new front end, left the side profile alone and put on a new rear end and called it a day. For 25k, I would get a RWD.

there's not one single boosted tC owner who wouldn't give their left nut for RWD. And most of us respect G35's and Z's. But there would be no point in TRADING a tC for a FWD monster. And besides, a boosted tC would be in the same league anyway and would cost about the same. The tC is not an expensive car... Which is why many who have a budget end up boosting them. But if we could have easily ponied up the cash for a RWD beast, we would have. I'm sure there are tC's here that can beat a stock base (non turbo) porsche 911... But if we had the budget, we'd all probably be driving better cars.
If the altima coupe was out when I bought my tC, I might have considered it, but again, a trade would be pointless. And even so, a used G35 or Z is a much better value.

On another note, I love my dads Z. It drives great, feels great, feels awesome when you sit inside it. I think the 350Z is probably the one of the few well made Nissans out there.

If you're going to find a 350z or a G35 even in the 25k price range, chances are it's from the time whenever they had problems with front tires feathering and rubbing.

G35 and 350z are the same care with different sheet metal... be aware!

the the v6 altima coupe has alot of things tc owners want, 6 spd manual, 270 hp and nice looks. but is it really worth selling like two or three vehicles to get?
i just worry that you'll do all that and suffer a huge load of buyers remorse.
and like most people have said, why pay that much for a fwd drive? if you want a platform with more potental in that price range, get a six speed lexus is 250. it isn't a coupe, but it is damn sexy looking. rear wheel drive, v6, 204 hp, and six gears. put a good turbo and some suspension on it and you have a wicket car in your hands.

Did I miss the announcement where nissan no longer makes the Z?

And in terms of Z quality, it's pretty crappy too. Plastic doors and arm rests work on a $13K xA (and even so, I was very offended by them when I had mine), but on a sports car??!!! The Z feels as cheap and poorly put together as a Daewoo, but it only wins points because it drives like a champ.
I forgot which magazine it was that said it first, but the Z is the closest thing you can get to a Japanese corvette.

Headlights are pretty pointless as they add more weight, but guess what? I STILL want them. And although I love the Z, it just shows poor quality that they can't afford to put half a penny's worth of foam and cloth into the doors and armrests. Sure it'll increase weight by .002589lbs... But I sure hope that it wouldn't bog done the engine! If it weren't for the car's performance, IMO, the Z would be worthless. But let's get back on topic...

i'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make here... My point is that yes, a car's primary purpose is transportation. But there are also many other factors that go into it, ie cost, quality, performance, reliability, etc. So judging a car purely on how fast it goes is pretty stupid, if you ask me. But if you buy your cars based on that, I'll be happy to sell you a 1000HP Yugo for $18 Billion. It'll only run for about 5 seconds, but boy does it drive well!

If you really wanna go fast, then drop in the 2gr-fe. 268 ponies should be able to out run the Altima. It'll be a lots of work trying to fit one in the tC but since you have the money to spend it might be a wise ideal.
