I haven't driven the new mustangs, although I would love to. The only thing i remembered hating about that mustang was that i had to put a 50lb slab of steel and 6 sandbags in the trunk it get it to go anywhere in the winter, even with snow tires.
a tc could take a pre 99 v6 and gt, a 99+ gt would kill it and it would be a close race with a 99-04 v6

The problem with the mustang is that it uses a solid rear axle. Thats why the handling isnt what it should be. Its also one of the reason that i hate ford, They could have put a better suspension set up in the back of the GT or ever the Cobra, but they decided to be cheap and not make the mustang a better car. Its got the power, but that solid rear axle makes that car not as good as it should be on the turns

Actually, the Cobras have had an independent rear since 1999. A significant enough number of owners chose to swap it out for a solid rear (for drag racing purposes) that Ford decided to save money and stick with a solid rear in the current generation.

There are many things Ford deserves criticism for. The suspension on the Mustangs is not one of them. You should drive one. Stock for stock it handles MUCH better than a tC (though it should for the $8k premium).

Edit: that should read that Cobras had the IRS up until 2004. The GT500s have a solid rear.

^^ maybe with a crappy driver behind the wheel of the mustang..
the sn95 v6 and up would take the tc with out a problem.. unless you fully modded the tc.. but then to make it fair you' d be able to mod the stang..

also people who buy v6 mustangs usually only do it for the looks.. get a vert, lets face its a chick magnet.. but if you want a REAL Mustang, get an 8 cylinder. and TC's wont even be a car you notice when you pass them..

(sorry.. i love scions.. but i am always a Mustang lover, was before scion even existed.. and still do)

the pre 99 v6 runs a high 16 low 17 no way an sn95 would touch a TC, the new edge sn95(99-04) would run about even with your average driver, and any stock 86-98 gt are about equal to a 99-04 v6 running a mid 15 to high 15 which is about equal to the TC. I love mustangs more than any other car, but I'm not going to over hype them

There is a guy on cardomain that has a white 05 GT with this full glass roof. I forgot who made it or what his page was, bit the roof had those perforation looking white dots covering it, so fromt he outside it looked like it was still painted white but on the inside you could see out. Kind of neat actually.

most 86-98 gt's run low-mid 15s but some do run a little slower due to drivers, TC's run mid-high 15's but yet some drivers run low 16's. As far as V6 mustangs, they are just sad, when I had my SC TC I would DESTROY my friends 98 V6 with I/E/pulleys.

low 15's is hopeful though it would be a pretty hard race for sure same as a 99+ v6 would be, plus the non PI v8 mustangs had crap for a torque curve, but a 98 v6 with full bolt ons still only has about 150-165 to the wheels and weighs about 500 pounds more than the TC you racing him must of just been a waste of gas lol

Current V6 Mustang > current Scion tC.

There's a reason why the Mustang costs more and weights more. Bigger engine and the proper drivetrain.

The previous generation Mustangs were one hell of a deal. After rebates the V6 sold for $17,000 and the V8s sold for $20,000. I personally hope that Ford brings out the next Mustang and sells the current one for the prices above.

I'd trade my tC in in a heartbeat.

I love it when ricers say that drag racing is boring and that they prefer canyon carving racing. The funny thing is they have never tried to launch a car that spins its rear wheels and with actual horsepower while accelerating like a rocket trying to prevent the car from slamming into a wall that's about 18 inches next to your car.

I used to think that way back when I was a ricer. "Oooh, everything from Japan is cool. If I put this JDM lug nuts it would improve my traction. Carbon fiber pedals will allow me to drift better with my FWD car. Yellow fog lights = hp. JDM head and taillights = mad tite performance. I know, I'll get a job delivering tofu and put stickers on my car for more power."

The amount of money some ricers waste on their cars, they can buy a real performance car.

I have been involved with both my whole life. My dad has raced his '72 911 in road races around the Great Lakes since before I was born. My best friends parents growing up had 2 camaros running in the 11s. I was there almost every weekend watching the drag races. When I got my license I tried both, and ever since driving a real car on a real track, I don't think I'll ever look back to drag racing.

Woops guess I'm a big fat RICER.

The glass roof has been on cars since the mid 90s. I know the merceds benz C230 has had it forever. So the saleen is not coping the tC.

Since I'm huge VW Bug fan (Yet, I went with a Scion )

I have few Bug books: one of them has a concept picture of the new Bug and it had glass roof to bring back the whole "Rag top" days. I guess VW ran into problems so it didn't make production. So other car makers thought of the idea too

A little fact about Bugs that most people aren't aware of.

^^

Well, since we're bringing vehicles out of our parents' garage... I hope you like the sound of the Grand Cherokee SRT8's exhaust, because that's all you're going to be hearing as I crush you in those same corners.

Probably because of the $7,000 difference. Why did you buy an xA? I know I wouldn't buy that car if money wasn't a problem.

Besides, I don't think there's anything in Toyota's camp that does:
RWD
Zero to 60 mph: 6.5 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 15.3 sec @ 93 mph
for under $20,000
