Spare key price and question

Spare key price and question
Hey guys,
So I picked up this used 05 tc three weeks ago. I love it and already done some things to it.
Unfortunately it came with one set of keys. Apparently the guy that owned the vehicle before couldn't locate the spare keys.
I contacted the dealer and the salesperson I went through and got to a point where they said its standard when buying a used vehicle, that you get what you pay for. Meaning all I get is that one key.
This worries me... cuz although I have been very good with they keys of previous vehicles I've owned, I want to be proactive and just have a backup for peace of mind.
Anyway the salesperson spoke with the service manager and said the best they could do is get me a spare key with no alarm or I would have to pay $160 for another set of keys with all the buttons.
I got the spare key and it opens my doors fine and dandy but it doesn't start up the vehicle.
So is $160 for a spare key that great of a deal? He said it's usually about $300ish but I could think of 160 different ways to spend that money better.
Also, this is the first time that I bought a used vehicle so dealers normally don't make and give out a spare key if it didn't come with the used vehicle when it was sold back to the dealer?
Thanks for the help.

well think about it, you are shiat outta luck if you dont do it, i think i would pay well over 160 bucks to not have to reach down and unlock my car thru my door every time i get in my car. I have the key hole covers tho so i would just fork out the dough for the real deal. Then, get some key hole covers from key techniques and then youll be big pimpin!

I work for Toyota.
If it was a Certified Pre-Owned Toyota/Scion, they have to provide you with two full keys. It being a tC, they need to provide you with two of the remote key fobs.
It is clearly stated in the certifacation on toyota.com

$85 with programming instructions. Though you will have to get the dealer to program the immobilizer.
